Anyone need power advice? I can help.

If anyone's trying to figure out how to do power distribution from the medium to the huge scale, maybe I can help. I'm a film lighting electrician and I know that stuff cold.

How big are those things? The ads say 30' across. Looks smaller than that. How much headroom is there? How many people can stand at one time in one? How many people can sit comfortably in one? How about lie down?

thanks

most important thing about bike seat comfort is the angle of the seat. get and bring the right wrench/allen key (commonly a 14mm wrench or 6mm allen key) so that you can adjust it on the fly til it feels right. Tilted back too far and it whacks you in the belugas when you hit a bump. Too far forward...

klein tents have two walls but only if you have access to the 4th dimension. A hypercube tent is downright boring on the playa that we go to.

Boozevangelist parade

So I got an idea for a fun parade, provide we get some participants. Starting with me and my campmates of course. We're all dressed up all raggedy assed like old school john the evangelist, in rags, beards, etc. Some of us have signs. We are staggering around, proselytizing about how THE LIVER IS EV...

The more mechanically sturdy your structure is, the flimsier the individual materials can be. EG: a dome. 3/4" EMT totally acceptable material for a smallish dome, not so for something with long members like a "carport".

A friend of mine is a Reno political figure who's come every year since the burn came to black rock. We were talking about this topic last year. He says he spends some time in conversation with various LEA folks about it. There are a small number of people who come for Burn night to steal. Not a lot...

moose, you seem to have some inside info. So what did that exchange with Nyx mean? They send you an unsubscribe if you're not going to be placed, and don't tell you anything if your camp is still in the running?

@misfit-

ok fine, make that "sustainably powered, air-conditioned, dark" place to catch a snooze. I stand corrected. Hammock camp(s) isfor naps. But darkness, coolth, and flatness are all nice features for a nap.

Cheers

Duly noted, all. The way I'm proceeding is basically full speed ahead and hoping for the best. Here's something for those early-arrival theme camp vets amongst you: This is my first year submitting an application to do a theme camp. Only concern about the short bus is I've seen DMV people be very difficult to vehicles that look too much like the original. As in, didn't approve them. Costume: a headdress/spacehelmet kind of thing, art deco ish, like the space angel kind of look. What will work well as a form-fitting low profile helmet? Paper mâché o a swim cap? Liquid latex poured on and hardened? Is there some sort of sculptable medium that can be bonded to a swimcap or a pap...

Big rental water tanks?

Anyone rented one of those gigantic hippo tanks that you have dropped off and filled, picked up at the end? My camp is going to be doing some water-intensive stuff this year, seems like the easiest way to do it. something in the 3-500 gallon range.

Anyone done this, suggest a vendor?
