Re: How many camps offered food?

We got a food permit for Ein Hammer just for handing out strudel (pop tarts) and a shot of whipped cream. Yes is all just common sense and cleanliness. Things I HOPE you're doing if your serving food. You know keeping things sanitary, washing your hands and proper food storing/cooking temperatures. ...

Of course to do it in style you need to drive your steampunk moon buggy into the decon zone in the back of the steampunk space shuttle, where you remove your steampunk space suit. Hmmmm

Re: Keeping the RV dust-free (well, as dust-free as possible

I agree that the dust that causes allergic reactions is different than the dust you will encounter in BRC (there will be a FUCKING LOT OF DUST, don't take 2011 as an example!). I'm mildly allergic to house dust (and sawdust) but I'm perfectly ok with playa dust, I could probably even snort it. To se...

I had a very similar burn to MyPlayaUserName. I loved everything and almost every minute of the nearly 3 weeks I was on playa. I also LOVED how well our project and burn turned out.

Re: How will this Tent fair on the Playa?

shade is DEFINITELY nice, but its not NECESSARY. And honestly no matter what, about 11-noon its hot anyway no matter how much shade you have, so you'll wake up if you can't sleep in the heat.

LOL this thread is a perfect example of people who are eager to jump in with their "expertise" without even regarding what the OP was asking, looking at the link provided, the info that was in the link, or what that info had to offer.

Re: How will this Tent fair on the Playa?

I do not think a commercially available tent exists on this earth that is shade ready for the playa and able to withstand the winds one might encounter on the playa. Anyway, where's the fun in not having a shade to design? You obviously haven't done much research into 4 season tents then especially...

Re: How will this Tent fair on the Playa?

seemed to me the OP was only asking if this tent would hold up to life on the playa. Which the answer is HELL yes, there aren't much better tents out there for severe winds.

Perhaps he has 10 VW vans in his backyard rusting away for all we know.

Dimensions are on the website, click on the pictures Only the parties involved know if it is worthwhile trade or not in the end, just because it doesn't seem like a good trade to you doesn't mean it isn't to the OP. I would love to have that tent for BC skiing base camps, although i'd hate to get it...

Re: How will this Tent fair on the Playa?

yes that will be a very bad ass tent on the playa! Made for wind, zip closed windows, lots of room. Sets up and packs way smaller than any home made dome could ever dream of. Won't be flappy in the wind keeping you awake all night. Are some of you other people crazy? Mesh what mesh? The windows zip ...

I learn lots of thing every year, but one item really stood out this year. I learned that ExpressoDude is one hard working, never say quit, don't stop until the job is done type of a guy. He worked with the Black Rock FX team on the Trojan Horse. He brought his SO and the two of them contributed a ...

A word of caution though. Once word gets out that you have a welder in action everyone and their mom will be dragging in their broken art cars, bikes, art and sex toys for you to fix. Great if you love helping people. Not so great because you'll have to turn some away if you want to see things at th...

I didn't see many seniors in either of the two groups gathering in chairs around the busses. If they want to see our event and art they should get out and see it then, not sit in lawn chairs.

I have a gas-less 90 amp mig welder I would be happy to use it to help people out but I don't have a generator to power it. Is it worth bringing in that case? I was out early to build the trojan horse and later set it aflame with fire arrows! I built the steel axles (mostly in reno) and there were a couple things that could only be welded on the playa. My axles couldn't be seen, until after the rest of the horse was burned, then they were the last thing l...

It was more of an infiltration than a full scale invasion. Just probing the defenses. There was even a guard in the tower at the time.

Sometimes its hot as hell, sometimes its freezing (literally like monday nite in 2010 it dipped below 32). This year was pretty mild both with heat and cold. Except for the week leading up to the event it got over 100, of course when we were working our asses off setting up.
