My fire art project that I created this year required that I flow 50 gal/min of fuel to the main burner. My fuel was 50% kerosene/ 50% gasoline. I used nitrogen to pressurize my holding tank for two reasons. First, when the tank runs low, it does not mix with the fuel and create and explosive mixtur...

I brought a project this year that was an unreasonable danger to others and I still got permission. (See "El Diablo") However, I did get put so far out on the Playa (11:00 & Gospel)that one night I had trouble finding it. No one was hurt so I will be in a little closer in 2004.

RE: Saying thanks

There was an ad on Craigs list offering to trade a diamond for a ticket. Was that you? A nice story. I have always believed that if you want something bad enough, you can make it happen.

re: gears and grinding wheels

At my shop in Oakland, among other things, I rebuild transmissions. I have boxes and boxes of gears and other parts that might be useful. No charge. Let me know if you have any specific needs.

RE: Feeling Bad.

I for one will not turn away anyone who is hungry, truly needs assistance or is not able to fend for themselves. That being said, your potential "guest" over-stepped his bounds. He is guilty of poor camp etiquette. Dragging all his gear to your camp BEFORE asking for permission was an attempt to mak...

RE: The Burn!

My first burn was in 1997. I have been to all of them since. My first was to this point my most memorable burn. I stayed back a little ways and watched the crowd approach the Man shorty before burn time. It reminded me of a movie that I have seen many times. The original Frankenstien. As the crowd i...

Just a thought.

Would it be possible to make the Party a "No Media Zone" and enforce it like Gigsville does for the Canadian Beaver Eating Contest? They do a wonderful job of keeping recording devices away and it seems to add a lot to the overall event. I know that my wife is much happier in a no media zone during ...

All my time spend in Gigsville was positive. Even though I camp outside of a village, I always attempt to camp near Gigsville. I like just walking through. I enjoyed the Canadian Beaver Eating Contest and the Island of Misfit strippers was well done. No one there would know me from Adam, but I was a...
