Some years back, I found a lid that fits on a Nalgene type water bottle, has 3 LEDs under the lid, lights up the bottle. I always have my water, visibility light and JoTS seat-check light all in one. Seen those, look nifty although I haven't actually picked one up yet, for all the times I've held t...

I still find it so ironic that for as much worship goes on about Bassnectar.. I thought he played the most god awful, irritating music that I'd ever heard in my life. I'd rather listen to a dentists drill than that drivel. Just saying. You find it ... "ironic" ... that there are other people have d...

I bought a bunch of LED bracelet blinkies to help with the darkwad problem. My first couple years, yes, I was a darkwad. I liked being a creature of the night, sidestepping through the darkness muahaha but I learned the error of my ways and the peace of mind of some random idiot not running into yo...

Everyone seemed pretty cool to be honest except for a group of people or trend that i noticed....... There quite a few people around the playa with megaphones Have you noticed that, generally speaking, nobody with a megaphone has anything useful to say? Video cameras are pretty cheap these days. Seems a taped walk-through with a representative of any RV rental place would be a pretty simple thing to do that would pay off greatly. Video tape won't show that the cigarette lighter outlets don't work, or that the grey/black tank level gauges aren't ac...

I gave up the regular stuff a decade ago, more, actually. Just a treat of a clove now and then, now. Of course, since you can't get them other than as a mini-cigar anymore... grrr....

Free smokes on the playa? I predict you'll be out by Thursday, once word gets around, if not sooner. I base this on the number of smokers I saw who ran out WAY earlier than anticipated and were reduced to bumming smokes for the rest of the week. Cool idea, for those it's aimed towards, but... yeah. ...

I saw a couple of guys launching mini "hot-air balloons" during the temple burn. Very cool to watch as they floated into the darkness with the flame burning underneath the white canopies. (Until the rangers told them they couldn't send up any more. I guess they might have been either a MOOP or fire...

Kman, I totally met a girl from your group, I believe her name was Ashley... I was a first timer this year, and I have to say I had many the seasoned vet in my camp jealous of our Hexayurt. We painted the outside of ours to try to avoid the "glare" from our neighbors with some grass and some flower...

People are going to be idiots and not follow the rules no matter what you try to do or say. Hexayurt (especially the raised 6' tall wall variety) was a big win. Need to improve the door for next year, however. Elorrum, that trike kit is a great idea. kman, nice setup. I can see how an airlock or portal room can be setup in front (with doors lined up) to shield inner-sanctum. Interior walls would have double insulation. It could be done, but it would lack the structural rigidity of the round (ish) yurt itself, and be much more vulnerable to seri...

Of course, someone falling full force against a tent is likely going to snap some poles and cause serious damage, too. If you absolutely need 100% reliability against stupid, unlikely amounts of damage, you're going to have to spring for an RV. (which will be hotter than a yurt, any time you're not ...

2002 rocked harder than I could believe, for so many reasons. Lame, if they didn't take a full res image.

The google earth/map satellite view of my in-law's house allowed us to identify the model of the car in the driveway. At that res, individual bodies should have been fairly easily recognizable.

Despite popular belief, transdermal dosing is at best extraordinarily inefficient, and more likely not possible at all unless one is handling pure compound.
