I wanted to let you all know that I am very happy that I finished making millions! The paintings were photographed this morning, and later today I met with the printer to discuss printing techniques and the possibility of adding silver or gold and will start printing the money (both the zero and mil...

Re: The Value of Art and Money and Paul Addis........

The "art world" outside of Burning Man is a strange place, strangest most of all for the artist who is nothing more than a commodity from whom others can make money, even when the artist themselves cannot make a living. The value of art is often determined by hype, and is randomly determined by a h...

An interesting thought concerning the value of art and money. I keep thinking this in the back of my head: In 2001 I went for the first time to Burning Man. Here in the Netherlands hardly anyone ever heard about BM, so we decided to hook up with an American group to go there and got in touch with th...

Best of luck to all artists who took the time to apply for grant funding. Do you find, as I do, that just the focus and labor of the process helps your ideas crystallize into a more executable process? I definitely find the process of writing about a project something that helps you focus and defin...

Tools needed for art project from Amsterdam in Bay Area

I just discovered this 'Share Resources' forum here on eplaya and decided to try it out. I am an artist from Amsterdam in the Netherlands and currently working on a big interactive art project for this year's Burn. I will build a pool filled with money - the Pool of Plenty. If you are interested to ...

I also am starting to realize that there might be a lot of people on this board who have no idea that I have built some big interactive Playa art projects before from overseas, and thus might think that this is a nice idea, but I will never be able to make it happen. So here's a video of my Dreamyou...

To really make this a NO-WORDS-BUT-IMAGES-POST: I'll post the other video we shot in my studio as well. Seems like arts value is never served by assigning a dollar figure. Every "great" piece of art is deemed priceless. I guess that means it sits firmly between 0-??? dollars.
