What price the Home? Probably thousands-ish in real dollars by now. What price each piece? Dollar-wise, next to nothing. As mementos and experience? Sky-high. What price my love for it? It consumes my living space and my thoughts. It has given me interactions I would otherwise have missed, it bring...

PS-I haven't even looked at your project page yet. The $20 I offered just seemed like what your bills would be "worth". Careful with that 20/0 USD ratio! the 20/0 ratio might get even trickier once I finish the Million bill and start designing the INFINITY bill :? Checked the page. Dug the art. 20 ...

Re: art object worth projections

Hey! your currency art is beautiful! I wonder if taking some of your imagery and live projection mapping it to physical objects in a quasi feedback loop that links both the value, pleasure and observed worth of an object with its projected image worth. Could be fun. Video mapping sounds very intere...

Good luck getting thru Customs. " Do you have any foreign animals, fruits, vegetables, medications or sums of currency in the amount above $2500 USD ?" "No,no,no,no and yes. I have a swimming pool full of hand made bills." It's funny you mention this. You can't imagine the hassle I already had at t...

Those "zero dollars" are cool looking, though. IIRC, Andy Warhol was all about the line between art and commercialism, so he might be a good place to start. http://blog.artasmoney.com/2011/01/05/cash-for-your-warhol-or-banksy/ http://i251.photobucket.com/albums/gg314/dadara/cash-for-your-warhol-eas...

Ohh, one more question. What does contemplating the value of art and money achieve? I am glad I am not the only sophomore at an over-priced, New England all-women's college (I wish).......... Anyway. The reason I think it makes sense to think about the value of art is that in our society everything...

E-playa is a cesspit of Snarkatopia just now. For me it's actually Dreamyourtopia: Since I don't live in the States this is one of the few ways to reach out to the BM community and let them know about my new Dream. And those ten bucks in Snarkatopia that 'Larry pays every year not to bring my 350-f...

Dadara, your apparent understanding of the Addis incident and vandalism at Burning Man in general, based on how you frame it here and on your blog, is so extremely naive I'd be willing to pay you ten bucks not to show up. The main reason I used the Addis incident on this blog which deals with the v...

I knew I was doing a very crude, perhaps snidely so, explanation. I believe that Ithaca New York was the first with those local currencies, the Ithaca Hour. There's one in Berkeley ("Bread") but whenever I look into it, there's nothing I want to buy with it. I wrote something about the Ithaca Hours...

Maybe you should look for a theme camp or sound camp who might be willing to hook up and combine forces to support this project with a fundraiser in the States. Wood... Shipping containers... That has me thinking-- maybe you are thinking too much of how to make this in the United States. Wouldn't it be funny (and oh-so-conceptual :) ) to make an 'art factory' in a 20' shipping container filled with sheets of plywood and a home made CNC router? Then you shi...

I like shipping containers. I recently bought two old 8x20's for $1200/each, which fit on a single truck. The 40' long ones also come in a taller size-- 9'6", I think, which might be more of the height you are looking for. The sides are thin enough steel that they are easy to cut doors/windows in w...

Re: Pre-Fab barns

You might want to consider the 'big brother' of the Monkey hut, which is the Quonset hut. This is a half-cylinder made out of corrugated metal. They were used extensively by the U.S. military in WWII. You see these in use all over North America and Australia as garages, workshops, barns, etc. You c...

Re: Foreigners bringing art to the playa

I think it depends on the size of your art. I am a foreigner as well. I often read on websites of other Burning Man projects that they are a fiscally sponsored 501(c)3 organization which means people can donate in a tax-deductible way. Obviously again as a foreigner I can't do that, but am wondering if there are ways to work around that or if anyone on here has an org...
