No idea if it'll help, but it might not hurt to hit ctrl+f5 if you're on a Windows machine. That'll force the browser to ignore cacheing and re-download everything on the page.

Re: Who's In...Who's Out?

Glad to hear it, Schtev. Having been on the virtual front lines during the sellouts and kerfuffles of the last couple years, one thing has proven true - those who are determined and vigilant almost always get the tickets that they need. Those who plan..burn. Very true. Last year I managed to snag a...

Re: Playa Lung Dust Masks

I used N95 3M masks last year, but fashionably decorated by testing fabric scraps on hand for breath porosity, then glued pieces over the masks with the glue just around the edges. I cut a dart (wedge) in the fabric so it would conform better. A pretty homemade mask ups the gifting potential. I smo...

Personally I use tank goggles from military surplus stores. I mean it is pretty much what they were designed for, after all.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day

A budget. I did a very careful analysis of my bank records from the last burn. This gives me a clear picture of how much money I spent last burn and on what, and shows me where my unnecessary excesses lie. Using this info, I was able to come up with a more deliberate budget for this year, which in t...

Re: Bad dream

My playa dreams have always been the best. They've gotten a little less frequent (only twice a week or so) and shorter in duration. So last night I decided to try something. I took two things I only ever used on the Playa (a tiny bit of a particular sunscreen I was wearing and some coconut body but...

Inefficient bureaucracy?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO... *wakes up * Oh thank God! Just a nightmare... He honestly said to talk to some department of the Cana...

Congratulations, you've added a playa prep/packing/in the wrong place at Burning Man anxiety dream to your life dream menu. This may include, but is not limited to: 1. at school, day before test, and you have not been to class in months. 2. parents finding the car is horribly dented, and you don't ...

Bad dream

I had a bad dream! I just woke up from it. It was about Burning Man, so I figured I'd post it here. So I'm in what sort of looks like some twisted version of the will call tickets area. Its a magically self-contained Playa biome that for some reason is in my home town I think about where there's a c...

Re: Question for the fire staff spinners

On a related note, I'm seriously considering an LED staff from the same people now. Does anyone have any tips or important gotchas? I'm thinking 4'10" staff, 1" grip, space for 2 lights, 3oz weights. The idea is I wanna be able to spin this at rave-y type events and other indoor places where fire ju...

HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Okay! So. It looks like you guys were right about this staff. I took it out for some moderate tempo practice to electro swing on Saturday. Kinda sore for a couple of days. Then just now I take it out for some more practice to some epic trance. Holy crap! My body is used to the weig...

Re: Question for the fire staff spinners

Okay. I guess I'll stick with it. Its probably better that I not be able to spin a lit staff at really high speed for now anyway, given the risk of injury. That being said, it might be cool to get an LED staff later that I can spin at a much faster rate. Also, I think spinning this bigger staff is m...

Re: Question for the fire staff spinners

I like getting praised for insanity! :D I'll start us off with some thread drift! I can barely walk around on the playa without damaging myself somehow. I've never had a stitch or a broken bone (if you don't count toes) until I went to Burningman. I can't even imagine what would happen to me if I tr...

Question for the fire staff spinners

Alright. So due to experiences at the burn this year, I'm now a staff spinner that doesn't do any contact stuff (yet). I ordered this three piece fire staff , and it finally arrived today. I certainly can't complain about the quality, but I have a couple of concerns. First of all, it seems really he...

Protip: Rebar comes up super easy if you use a pair of vice grips and twist the rebar a few times first.

I think I may try something like this on a much smaller scale next time for just myself with no shower. But man, those rags must be NASTY by the end of the week.
