Re: 2012 Theme Camps - will you make it this year?

Dave from the White Dragon Noodlebar here. huge fan of the noodle bar! :) thanks for all the yumminess you've provided on the playa! :D i ran a teeny tiny camp/art project last year called the bureau of unclaimed secrets. all told, there were about 20 people in our space - although to do the projec...

Re: BRC Fails to even search for duplicate names??

Ticket Brokering is big business. I know of one friend who does this professionally. Here are some links for some really useful information on the amount of information that exists for people who don't really care about the event, but see Burning Man as an event that has scarcity, like the Super Bo...

Re: YOU WEREN'T "REJECTED"!

It was a random draw. The fact that you didn't get a ticket doesn't mean that the llc had a serious look at you and found you lacking. It just means that you didn't get a ticket. And running around saying "I was rejected by Burningman" is only going to make you feel like shit. Don't let that idea r...

Re: Who plans on submitting tickets into STEP program?

Does the ORG or anyone really believe that if somebody has an extra ticket that they will sell it back to the STEP system for face value? Not gonna happen, they will sell it for way over the face value and put that money in their pocket. DUH. if people were going to have their tickets in-hand in 2 ...

Re: Official "Not Awarded Tix" Thread

I did not win the lotto. Kinda feels like getting kicked psychologically, like "Gee I must not be deserving or something" but I have to keep reminding myself that this is RANDOM, nobody is picking ME out! I know! It's so hard to shake that feeling even though I know it's not personal. this. someone...

Black Rock City Yarn Shop

I am considering opening a LYS (that stands for "local yarn shop" for you non-fiber-crafters) in BRC next year. I'd be gifting my stash (I'm already stocking up on clearance stuff), the use of my pattern books and a bunch of knitting needles, as well as a social work area. During open hours I'd be a...

They actually don't charge your card (or whatever) till the number of pledges reaches the goal. So, if a group sets a goal of $1000, and they only get $251 pledged, they end up with $0. completely outside of the scope of the specifics of this debate - that's actually one of the things i like about kickstarter. if you can't get enough community support OR you set your sights too high, you have...
