Hey Rose, You can get new mannequins in good condition pretty inexpensively (~$125-150) from http://www.acmedirect.com; they have a warehouse in downtown LA where you can pick them up so as to save on shipping. I was also directed to the seller "fashionwindows" on ebay who is apparently located in S...

i forgot, how many are you looking for ivy? My bad, I totally forgot to answer. I'm looking for 12-15, the more the merrier, of course. Put up a little site up about the project. It's still being tweaked. I was inspired to write a blog about all the stories that seem to crop up while collecting the...

Hee!

I my co-worker and I looked like that yesterday. Except he carried the torso and got a nice reach-around to her breasts while I carried the bottom half and goosed her. It was quite scandalous!

.5, target practice? I bought a mannequin from a guy on Craig's List and he had an extra set of legs he threw in for free. One of my co-workers (who has an in with the guy who stores all the mannequins for the museum...) keeps asking me "what are you going to do with all those mannequins in the des...

Yes, I saw a guy from Denver asking for mannequins in the "Playalicious Playwear" (orwhateverthefuckitscalled) tribe. I offered to pass on the names of the 2 Denver area mannequin companies I found but he hasn't responded.

Current mannequin tally=6.5. Woot!

Bad shape is o-kay! You should see some of these poor babies I've saved from terrible fates...one girl had her head broken clena off and 3/4 of her leg sawed through. But she's on her way to a better life now...

Sent you an email, thanks!

For that matter, if you look back through the archives for the new ePlaya, I think that you'll find that this place, as it is today, is more peaceful still than its older self of a few years back. You think so? I disagree. I think the signal-to-noise ratio is worse than ever. The personal attacks i...

I like "Stitch & Bitch" as far as beginning knitting books go it was very helpful to me. One of the best resources I've founf is http://www.knittinghelp.com. I'm really looking for full-body ones--with legs and arms (arms are less importnant). I've not ever encountered wicker ones with limbs; in fact, I haven't seen any made of wicker recently. Lots of canvas, very popular it seems. I have a friend in SF who already offered his garage as storage, Dustdev...

Not sure what degree of detail you're looking for
How about:
I'm searching for full-body adult mannequins (mostly female, but a few male) ... Damaged condition is okay: with or without heads, chipped surfaces, broken off hands/arms/feet acceptable.
That is the degree of detail I'm looking for.

mannequins wanted

I'm searching for full-body adult mannequins (mostly female, but a few male) for a project I'm trying to put together for Burning Man 2006. Damaged condition is okay: with or without heads, chipped surfaces, broken off hands/arms/feet acceptable. I'm in the Los Angeles area but can also possibly arr...

You're right, I haven't. Being blacklisted by the community kinda puts a damper on my desire to participate in those sorts of events. Radical inclusion and all that, eh?

I have heard that there are some groups (maybe consisting of little old ladies) that make quilts to give to charity. Yes, there are charity groups that take fabric donations. The Old Hat influence is still strong.
Yep, last I heard Larry Harvey was still the mastermind behind Burning Man. I don't think that's changed in oh, about 20 years.

The "victim" is never going to know it so there is no real harm
I'm sorry, are you saying here that the person being photographed is never gonna see their photo online, so it's okay?

I'm not sure what you meant by that sentence. Can you clarify?

I very much enjoyed joining the Monkey Chant/Gamelan's procession to the temple in 2004. They were very interspersed with the people in the street and very supportive and encouraging of people joining in.

You're correct, there's no charge to take the test. But, like I said, they're probably unlikely to give out any info unless they have an actual opening (for which you'd need that code #). The places I usually see them are the want ads in the paper (the ad will have a number) and then you go online t...

I've taken the postal exam. It's not hard, if you're good at memorizing numbers, putting them in order, that sort of thing. The most notable thing about the exam is that it's in two parts: the first being questions of the aforementioned type, the second (and longer) half being "personality" question...
