Re: cooling your tent or van

Oh another solution (if you're feeling more creative than consumer) is to put together some louvers for the container you're using to direct the flow to the duct. The goal is to eliminate most if not all of the dead space and corners where the moving air can go, start to spin and throw off the rest ...

Re: cooling your tent or van

Naw, this is before even getting the bucket into the mix.... just running a 2' length of 4" pvc into the box with the fans. Must just be a weird airflow thing. I mean, it isn't ike it's not moving air... it is... I just didn't expect that choke point to have such a large effect. I guess lack of smo...

I've got to say, my biggest complaint is the sub-topic thread layout as well. The lack of notation of the stickies is a pain and more of a distinction is definitely needed between read and unread threads.

Re: cooling your tent or van

Also, it was lightly touched upon last year and tested quantitatively, but the addition of a second fan in series (inline) will only add to the pressure of the system not the flow. To increase flow, as some have discovered, the fans need to be parallel feeding the same duct.

Whew... I made it! Though 20 pages later and I still have a question. I'm planning on using the HF solar pump and a Scythe Ultra Kaze fan . I plan to go with one of the cheaper 12 Ah batteries for this year as it will only be me and, much like Connie, I plan to use the cooler minimally (read 1-2 hou...

Re: Bikes: single or multi speed?

Go with a slack geared (easy to pedal) single speed and big tires ran a little flat. The easier gearing helps with the wind and the random playa dunes. You wont be flying across the playa but what's the rush?

I started putzing around with creating a google site for the project but wasn't sure if someone had already started work on a 'pretty' site. I can keep going if you'd like but will need some more info from the team. Just let me know.

since idiots tag the temple....i don't see how the pier will be exempt. and really, piers do get tagged. A bit of graffiti may add to the authenticity. eg. Initials carved in a heart on one of the pilings, etc. But I agree with snake that without constant security, I don't see how it could be avoid...

Oh, I'm well aware that not just anyone can get involved with the backstage aspect of BM. I'm also not expecting to get fully involved in the next year, but I'm definitely hooked. I plan to be a lifer and would eventually like to become heavily involved and put my degree to use, which is more than I...

Thanks, JK! I've been looking into volunteering. Would you suggest the DPW if I'd prefer to get my hands dirty and swing a few hammers? If not, which group would you suggest?

First off, great article, Shutterslut! Second, 2010 was my first burn and I had the misconception of needing to bring tangible gifts. The weekend before the burn, I took the time to make about 100 clay hearts to give out. When it came down to it, I only haded out about 10 of them, if that. What I fo...

Thanks for the welcome, Lucky! Yeah that's what I've heard. To be honest, I'd love to get out there even earlier and help build some of the infrastructure or help some of the artists with the manual labor aspect of their art. All in due time right?

Hey all, my name is Alex and I am a )'( Virgin no more! 2010 was my first burn, which is a bit embarrassing considering I grew up in Reno and should have started attending years ago. BM was easily the most amazing event I've ever attended. I was there from Thursday through Monday and am already plan...

The 'Slow the Fuck Down' group on 8:30 with their STFD stop signs were great. Loved the concerned look on the faces of those passing by as they were verbally barraged for moving too damn fast. Then there was the couple that took it to the extreme and took a solid 5 minutes to move 10 feet.
