Re: Where are the swingers camps

We found a great swingers camp last year, free for anyone to hang out and swing. I swung with a LOT of people, it was fun.

Here's my buddy Nate in action:

Re: Do the math: over 50% of tickets went to scalpers

Can a retailer (such as BMORG) determine if a particular CC # is from a pre-paid card? In a word; no. If your card starts with 4616 then it's a VISA card. Payment processing systems do not know whether that card is a credit card, a prepaid card or a debit card. Nor should it really. Having a credit...

Re: Trilo on Tickets

Trilos article was great. It's refreshing to see some pragmatic optimism amidst all the "fear, uncertainty and doubt." I don't think it's the be-all end-all of the issue, it's also full of specualation and guesses. At least his are well reasoned and practical guesswork, not vitriolic over-the-top do...

By the way, people need to cut the "radical self reliance" bullshit. Radical self-reliance is what the emigrants used to cross the desert on foot along the Applegate/Lassen trail. We rely on Ford, Honda, the highway department, Exxon, Duracell, the DPW and off the volunteers who build the city for ...

Re: Scam Emails- For Amusement Only- Do Not Play

One thing on the rise suddenly is companies that cold call and set up fake websites to draw in visitors, representing themselves as either tech support for a popular anti-virus product or Microsoft. For the cold calls a common tactic is to state that they're calling because they've been getting a lo...

I'll come and show some chicks that power tools aren't that scary, even if you could lose a finger. (I am a chick, that is what I did in school with my other female classmates.) Don't fool yourself. A lot of playa chicks could teach college courses on tool use. The DPW gals could teach graduate sem...

Re: BRC Fails to even search for duplicate names??

I'm questioning the Borg's legal right to back out of a binding contract. Hence the quote from Marian Goodel: "But Goodell said it was too late to re-do this week's lottery -- "not possible," she said -- even though the physical tickets won't be mailed out until June. She said the LLC has divided u...

Re: This is how it SHOULD have been done.

As burners we need to accept that the ticketing process happens in the outside world as entry to our world. What this means is that scalpers/speculators etc. will attempt to profit from any supply/demand imbalance. Precisely! As this fiasco has unfolded, I keep having this recurring notion that thi...

Radical inclusion. It's RADICAL. Welcome home. Not just YOU, EVERYONE. What do the disgruntled suggest that is more fair, more reflective of burner values? I'll see your Radical inclusion and raise you one Radical self reliance. If you weren't prepared enough, didn't think ahead enough, why should ...

Re: Everyone buying too many tickets?

And somehow ...use the lottery system to assign everybody a number, essentially their place in line, and then in two weeks, when the lottery closes, let people make their ticket-buying choices in that order isn't complicated. Yeah, the main flaw in that idea is everyone behind you in line having to...

Re: An agnostic burner’s point of view

Arguing a point with someone who will continually change the definitions of the terms is pointless. They lose by default. We can go with the standard model of god, or we can have an amorphous un-defined thing that ultimately renders their own argument moot. The problem here is that there is not and...

I believe they're on OED2 at this point. I use the Oxford University Press one cause I'm too poor to subscribe to the OED.com version. Ok not poor really, but not interested in paying $295 for time-lines and other add-ons I'm probably not going to use.
