Re: Camp visual identity

I think you should start Bad Typography Camp and print out your camp name in Comic Sans with really bad kerning in black on white office paper taped together.

Biggest douchebag on eplaya? Are the votes in? I thought that was Simon. Maybe you'd feel more welcome at Reddit ? Even some of those folk in that thread have come to terms with the fact that this forum is a great resource if only you'd put some effort into searching it. Anyway, I've added a conveni...

Re: Re-bar or Lag Screws for a Monkee Hut ?

Maybe? Lag screws are usually drilled flush with the ground, and they're often shorter than the rebar used for monkey huts. They very well might still bend depending on the length and forces. Maybe if you got some 1/2"-diameter lag screws they won't bend much. My rebar never bent, except when I was ...

Benzy, your post provides no information about what charge controller you are even thinking of purchasing. In fact, your posts contain virtually no detailed questions or information at all except some variation of "I want to use electricity on playa." For your charge controller, go read or look up t...

Re: Mini Fridge? Chest Fridge? What's your zero-ice solution?

I have one I took out of an old camper and use it at my Hof. works great. just set it on a table in the shade, with a 5 gallon propane tank and regulator attached, and it'll be good for well over a week. A tank usually lasts me close to 3 weeks. good call BBadger! They use like 1.5lb of propane per...

Re: Re-bar or Lag Screws for a Monkee Hut ?

It's not really bad that it bends. The fact that the rebar bent despite the PVC bending means it must've just been really windy. The whole structure of a monkeyhut is supposed to be flexible and bendy anyway, and as long as the PVC doesn't come off the rebar you should be fine. I've even put cut pie...

What about a propane fridge? There are even some that will do all of 120VAC, 12VDC and LPG.

Re: Sound system for art project

Lots of smaller speakers gives a nice soundspace too as you walk around, not just some single source that sounds artificial. You can even have different sounds in different areas, adding to the effect. +1 to the Class D amps. They're super cheap and quite efficient and sound pretty decent. Check out...

Re: The Playa Provides

Had to repair my bike last year on playa because my bearings got fucked by the dust. My friend and I got it working, but I didn't know if I would need to do some field repairs or tighten down something. So just in case, I took along a big Crescent wrench I had used to get the bolts off the bike, the...

Though probably rare for installations, theft can and does happen, especially if the equipment is portable. Consider locking up and attaching your gear to immobile structures with cables to at least make it difficult for the gear to walk off. I usually keep just have the security cable follow the po...

Re: Solar El wire

Even though you're replying to a 4-year-old thread, a better idea is to not bother using power-hungry EL wire at all and to use something that will last all week on few batteries, like copper fairy lights. EL wire is really dim too, and for the price of it, you could just buy a bigger battery for yo...

Even with access to a shower in our camp area I've not bothered, or forgotten. As mentioned above, you're always covered in dust anyway, and it's dry so you don't feel nearly as shitty as you would if you were in a place with humidity. You're mostly interested in cleaning your neither regions, which...

Oddly enough, I remember going mid-day last year and it was a breeze getting through the line. Maybe it was because it was extremely hot and nobody thought they wanted to be standing in line for ice. Or maybe it's just more efficient these days. Go when it's most inconvenient for other people to go.

The best part during exodus is turning off at the fork onto that empty highway going north, at full posted speed-limit speed, and looking back in the rear-view mirror to see the endless line of cars crawling off into the horizon towards Reno. See ya folks!

Still beat using rebar.

I don't know if ticketing can help you out, but maybe you can contact them about this. BMOrg really should get their shit together to prevent these kinds of SNAFUs. Maybe TicketFly's system is so inflexible that they can't restrict purchases of dependent items (e.g. allowing VP sales only if tickets...

I expect the profile registration helps to: 1) reduce the ability of automated systems or multiple windows/accounts from being able to increase the odds of getting a ticket; 2) provide demographic data; 3) weed out dumbasses who can't even be self-reliant enough to register a profile or for the sale...
