Re: Greeter Bypass For Early Entry

Yeah, I could see the need for a quick entry line bypassing the greeters station (note gate though) if it's not that important to get your hugs and all that. Maybe it'd come in handy for multiple trips, etc. or people returning. Is it even that bad? I remember that I actually had to change lanes to ...

Re: Biggest MOOP in the history of Burning Man

It's not as if the money and resources thrown at that project would have or could have directly translated into other projects. People donated and people put their time into that particular project. Maybe people wouldn't have put such efforts into many smaller projects, as compared to the grand sing...

Re: Transporting gear.

Some camps have shipping containers that are purchased ($3,600) and stored offsite each year to be delivered on-playa by the service ($700/yr fee). It's called the BRC Storage Program. It may be that. Otherwise it might just be a private company that does it.

Yeah we did the cross beam thing as a joke, but I wouldn't want to look at the spot if lighting and training a laser on a cigarette. Way too bright and probably dangerous too.

Re: Salon takes a hatchet to Burning Man?

I remember bringing a high-powered hand-held laser to BM and using it, including at the Man burn. While cool, the unwanted attention it brought, with every person and their hubby wanting to try it out made it so I was really reluctant to use it. It certainly didn't add much to the event painting the...

All vehicles should probably be limited to 5mph except perhaps to pass if needed. The problem is that how do you enforce such a thing?

Oh the money part was more versus other stuff like I what I brought for my shake. Even so, 12 bottles for $32 isn't that bad anyway. I hate cooking out there, so I'll often just go and buy some tasty premade sandwiches at a sandwich chain and have that for some "good" meals. Some cold pizza is good ...

Put in your request like any other camp. You can list what you did in previous years even if your camp hasn't attended in the immediate past for some time. You'll also need to provide info on what you're planning on doing this year as well.

Re: Can I make a wearable, portable flamethrower?

You should probably contact the people at Burning Man (bottom) and see what they have to say. While you probably wouldn't be prohibited from attaching it to a costume or prop or something, you may be restricted in what you can do with it, when, and where, much like fire performance art.

Add underline style to in-post links?

The current style used for links (e.g. this is a link ) residing inside post bodies and signatures can make hyperlinks difficult to identify, even though they're a shade of blue. Could they be styled with an underline like standard links? The color used for the links also has poor contrast when on t...

No, the Superstore is the same store as the one on Amazon, and only sells 50pc cartons. I think the one you're looking for is the Fastener Stop . Note that I don't know whether these guys actually deliver on their lag screws (I would assume they do). Please report back if you use them. The 50pc cart...

You probably don't need the 1/2" lag screws, but any normal impact driver/wrench should be able to drive those in.

We had one of those 30ft Rohn towers that was held in place in the middle with deep stakes and then had guylines around it. They're not that hard to transport or set up, and not too expensive. Tall, but not super tall.

Re: How to do bright hair color for the Playa!

Well according to this site on preventing hair color from fading, normally hair is slightly acidic, which keeps the cuticle structure compact and resisting dyes or other chemicals. It also keeps the hair healthy. When dyeing the hair, the hair is purposely made alkaline (pH raised above neutral) to ...
