Re: PAGE TWO

Though w.r.t. insurance policy tickets, I'd more direct the blame at BOrg for allowing such tickets to be resold at their un-depreciated value. The BOrg won't even criticize the practice, and may even tacitly support it for more ticket sales.

Re: [IMHO] BMC ticket sale process is broken!

Whoop-dee-fucking-doo, a person got accepted into a camp! Why should "free campers" get the shaft compared to people who have merely been accepted into a camp? At least they're probably setting up their own shit. Being accepted into a camp is about the lowest, most useless "qualification" one can to...

Re: Burning LEDs

Er, well, LEDs are nearly always packaged in materials containing plastics and the electronics themselves contain different chemicals, metals, etc. Depending on where you bought the LEDs, the solder may also have lead and other stuff in it. Your wires will also be insulated using plastic. Overall th...

Re: Ratchet straps or used climbing rope?

With rope, you can use some nice running rigging with the rope , which will balance the load for you. Another nice thing is that if the rope you used is cheap enough (or you don't care about it), you can just cut it instead of pulling it out. If you use paracord, you can also use a Blake's Hitch and...

Re: Low Income *and* main ticket registration?

I generally have that same view of the LIT program as well. The marginal price difference should not be the financial difference between going and not going -- and if it is, you probably ought to not go and strain your finances. However, it may be such that receiving a LIT ticket just helps decide w...

If you opened a Ticketfly account in the past, login to it to check if it's still good.

Also call your bank up before your $1000 ticket transaction to make sure your card doesn't get denied.

Whatever the policies laid out in that page, you should not be applying for low-income tickets if you can afford main sale. The LIT is not meant to be some second chance to get a ticket, but the only chance.

People can buy their own damn label maker, and instead of using some sort of databased number they can put real names and addresses on the stuff. But officially handing out stickers, RFIDs, zip-ties with embossed numbers, etc.? That's just encouraging people to be lazy with securing their stuff. Qui...

There will be, no doubt, some camps seeking members that spring up on the forum. It'll also help you get involved with st...

Re: 15' wall made of polystyrene / styrofoam?

You should probably not construct anything out of styrofoam for use on the playa. That material is too liable to break apart and become MOOP unless you're planning on coating it with something. If you need something like foam, you might want to look into something like expanded polyethylene or somet...

Re: Using EV (car) batteries to store power on playa

That Ford Fusion Energi battery pack only has a 7.6kWh capacity. If your AC unit consumed as little as 500W of power, even with 100% efficient conversion that would only last you about 15 hours. That's about 2 gallons of fuel on a generator in eco mode. You'd probably be better off just powering a n...

Re: Using EV (car) batteries to store power on playa

You should only use the generator (car or standalone) to do the bulk charging on your battery (up to 80%), where they can provide all the current they can to charge up the battery. After that, the absorption and float charge stages use less and less current, wasting the power provided by the generat...

I think I've read that as the distinction as well (other than the size of the tool too).
