Re: Low-price bulk American Bottom Bracket Kits

You should probably just stock some bearing grease and bearings for most of the cases. They're a lot less expensive and probably go further.

You should probably *avoid* being near Hushville (6:30 and E). Otherwise, anywhere that is convenient. If you're not in the large scale sound installation areas, you should follow the sound policy for the event . Yeah, 300W, not much, but if you tune it nicely, maybe it'll have more impact. It is go...

Most will be Schrader valves. I don't know about the bearings. As long as they and the cage fit it's probably fine (see this thread for some that are found on eBay). Also bring some bearing grease.

Re: Almost no $425 tix posted- hmm, what are the odds?

I was on board with the concept that "presale ticket extra cost is expended once you pay to ensure you have a ticket, after that it's the same as a regular ticket and should be resold for the same as a regular ticket." I'm not so sure anymore. Right now, regular priced tickets are scarce, but the e...

Re: Lag screws vs everything else...

I used a regular ratchet and it worked pretty well, even if slow. Having a 30" extension would've helped. I'd provide a pivot on the top of the shaft and spin the handle around like a crank. If your T-handle also ratchets, and is wide enough, and allows two hands to use it, it would probably work go...

I don't know about 5 gallon jugs in particular, but there is always lots of bottled or jugged water available. We once just grabbed some big case of regular water bottles at Costco because we didn't want to deal with going to some other store for the 2.5 gallon containers.

Re: Why is the ticketing system so awful for burning man?

You seem to be really caught up with this idea that scalpers are really a huge influence on tickets sales, but I don't see any proof of this. Sure, there are listings on eBay or wherever, but that doesn't mean there are many real scalped tickets involved. Some of those "scalped" tickets are being so...

Buy a new tent every year? With my tent I've just come to accept that it's always going to be imbued with playa and don't bother really cleaning it anymore. Re: how do you protect your inverter on the playa?

For your swamp cooler, why not just get a 12V pump and fan and connect directly to the battery, rather than using 120VAC created by the inverter that carries with it conversion inefficiencies? They're more common anyway, and probably cheaper too.

I like those salt tablets too, even in defaultia if I don't want to have to drink some electrolyte drink, or they're not available (like at a music venue where there is dancing). They're not too expensive, and you can just pocket a few for when you need them.

At least the corpses would still be relatively cold for a while though. The evap cooling actually works really well for tents short of actual AC. Unless you're hauling a lot of water and don't want to deal with the weight of it for safety and control reasons, it's probably better to just fill up at home or somewhere cheap along the way and drive it all the way to BRC rather than suffer the (in)convenience of stopping and waiting to fill up in...

That 30W is probably based on the near-maximum output of 0.06A per RGB LED (all white). So 50x0.06A * 12V = ~36W. You'll probably use way less than that if you're using other colors, patterns, or reduce the brightness. Maybe look into animating the patterns on your bike or switching to some other co...

Re: Help powering 30-40 feet of LED strip on art bike

The LED strips should regulate whatever current they need. They just need to be hooked to a 12V power source to function.

Adding a switch (possibly sealed) between the battery and your lights might make it nicer to turn on and off too.
