You can just attach images to your message in the forum, or use some place like imgur.com.

Re: Segways in Burning Man

As echoed above, I'd rather have those Segways than those noisy, motorized scooters. I'd also rather have them than those bikes that are abandoned without lights in the middle of the playa; I assume people would take care of their $3000 ride better than that $30 bike.

Re: Compact Drill vs. Impact Driver for Lag Screws

You shouldn't use Photobucket for images on forums anymore. Quite frankly, the site/service can outright die now that they're destroying internet forum history by blocking links to images.

I'll have to see what sales come up at Home Despot though.

I can see the shape of my vehicle in the pictures, as well as my shade structure. Sure, they're just a few pixels in a shape of a rectangle, but I can at least see that.

Re: Best layout for a camp of 2 people

Thanks for the link. I didn't know that the orientation of the city can change every year. How soon is the map for the current year available so we can plan sunrise, winds and shadows? The orientation of the city does not change year to year. I believe it was oriented so that the sun would come up ...

Re: Lighting yourself-help!

Fairy lights are nice because they strike a nice balance of cheap, bright, durable, long-lasting, nice colors, and battery-powered. They're often a great replacement for EL wire, which lacks many of the above properties except maybe nice colors and battery powered. If you want "solid" looking LED ro...

Re: Best layout for a camp of 2 people

Ah, that explains it. Yeah, those indicators can drain the battery. I did notice that my ol' Subaru would have a semi-depleted battery after some weeks of disuse because of the alarm light or some other low-but-still-power subsystem. What about using some cheapo solar panel to keep things topped off...

Why would it kill the battery with the hatch open? Is it from the light? I keep mine set to completely off even if it's open.

Get into shape. Get enough sleep. Eat enough food.

You have a whole summer prior to the event to stop being a lethargic sloth. Even a week before will do you good.

For reference, the map(s) Chowski mentioned are here: https://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=78496 Make sure to pack along extra tarps, and maybe a small sheet of aluminet/camo netting to allow yourself to adapt to however your camp actually ends up. Even with the best planning, you might...

Lost: phone or camera with generic details (buttons, black colored, pictures of people on it, cracked screen, case, brand name on back, plastic or metal). Probably lost somewhere between 2:00 and 5:30 A-D on Wednesday or Thursday. I only noticed it was gone three months later -- BUT IT IS REALLY IMP...

A black-colored, point-and-shoot camera of indeterminate brand and model, with temple photos and some pictures of two women.

Yeah, that's super specific and easy to identify.

Re: Anybody ever build a hush box?

I think the high-heat paint is more to protect the spray itself from incineration, not the material it's sprayed on. Typically the spray is on metal stoves or BBQs and stuff like that which are already able to radiate enough heat away to not melt. Its purpose is mostly to protect the metal from rust...

Re: Elon Musk & the Mission to Mars

It doesn't matter if the planets are dissimilar. I don't think any species carry sentimental feelings for, if even the awareness of, the planet or location where his or her predecessor genes came, except maybe Nazis or something. Animals will change and adapt as needed regardless of their introducer...

Re: Elon Musk & the Mission to Mars

Ehhh... I don't think that is really an issue. There's nothing that says that we need to keep species in their pure Earth-form while on Mars (or anywhere else), or that Mars-born and adapted species require the capability to return and survive on Earth. It's not as if these have been a constraints i...

Re: Generator rental and delivery

One of the problems with a nice comfortable RV is that you don't want to go out and explore all that Burning Man has to offer. The other thing to consider is if you're a night person, then you will be sleeping more during the day. I tend to try to get to sleep by 1:00am since I'm on east coast time...

I'm not trying to pick on Elon Musk, but after reading about that universe-is-a-simulation idea, the whole concept just feels like " not even wrong ", navel-gazing-class pseudo-theory. The fact that some bozos even want to spend money to try and "break out" or something really just means they have t...

You have clearly never been in the circle with a job to do when the masses charge in. It is unworkable. Give it a try and work the circle sometime to find out how crazy the herd becomes. People are pretty well behaved up until the perimeter signals that they can enter the circle though. They weren'...

Re: Preventing Bike Theft / Finding 'Lost' Bike Ideas

My friend didn't have a lock because he normally locks up with his partner, but he really had to take a shit and went off alone.

To prevent theft, what he did was decouple the chain from the chainring to make it hard to pedal off with the bike for the common theft-of-opportunity thief.

It could be too that policy changes will be more concerned with protecting volunteers, rather than drug-addled immolators from themselves, beyond what is already in place. Most volunteers are not trained to subdue a psychotic individual in these dangerous situations; it's like a store employee runni...

Why stop the ideas there? Then those other people can have it demolished at the end of the burn and clean it up...
