Re: Who else thinks a caravan is a great idea?

We drove last year and had a blast meeting folks along the way there and back. It was my first drive west and I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to just pull over some place and park for the night. You sure can't do that here in Illinois, or there would be an officer knocking on your window ...

Re: Advice on renting a trailer

A few years ago I had to rent a truck to tow a trailer home. (a drive from Chicago to south Florida and back) The ONLY company who would rent a truck to be used for towing was Enterprise, and only after presenting them with business insurance. If you have business insurance, the rental price was rea...

Re: "Burning Friends"-Official Theme of 2012

Thanks Eric,
I really hope to make it to the meet and greet this year. (I have lurked here so long, it feels like some of you are old friends) We missed it last year, I think we were wearing togas and pulling the trojan horse out through the gates of Troy on Thursday evening.

Re: "Burning Friends"-Official Theme of 2012

I am so tired of hearing about all this gaming of the system- and that all of the people who are going to be there are a bunch of rich virgin tourists. We won our tickets in the lottery with no gaming and feel terrible for the folks who didn't get tickets. We can't be the only people feeling less an...

Re: Who plans on submitting tickets into STEP program?

What is the cost of submitting into the step program? I mean, we are planning to USE our tickets, but if something did come up and we couldn't, we would want to sell them for the full amount that we paid for them. The confirmation email mentioned a "restocking fee", but does not say how much.

I won 2 full price tickets in the lottery, one for me and one for my husband. Last year was our first burn, we raced to the desert after dropping our youngest kid off at college in Minneapolis. Having four kids and parenting since 1977, it was our first opportunity. The full summer of preparations a...

Re: Official "Not Awarded Tix" Thread

The worst is that STEP requires the person selling it back to the community to LOSE $$$. Imagine how much that will piss people off. You would think that BMORG, having created this mess, would suck it up and pay the fee. In all fairness, if i had an extra ticket to sell, i would NEED to sell at wha...

Re: cooling your tent or van

We used this fantastic thread as our guide while building our swamp cooler. Thank you! We really wanted to be comfy, so we made it big and it worked really well. But I have to say that, coming from the hot and humid midwest summer, I did not find the need for a swamp cooler at all. It was a little w...

We finally made it home last night- best vacation ever. Only one complaint. After planning for 2 years, we were SO excited to be coming up to the greeters after less than 2 hours in line on Monday. Our greeter told us to come back another time to ring the bell because it was too busy to do it right ...

We will be dropping our youngest child off for her first year at college, driving directly from Minneapolis to BRC. A rite of passage into our empty nest- we are ready- I can not imagine a more perfect theme.

Menopause can suck so bad, for some of us it is like the end of all joy. Fuck the hot flashes- they were the easy part. So far our plan is to secure the panels to the roof of the truck. I was actually more worried about losing the components that collect the energy and serve it up for use.

I don't know anything about 73s. But it did not fit mine, so I mixed it up- used some of the new pieces attached to old parts and it is perfect.

Thanks all for the security info. Sounds like taking normal precautions ought to protect us, with no guarantees.

I would use the lock. I think they are looking for unlocked areas usually. Got any suggestions for replacing the deadbolt on a 73? It does not say what year it is for, but I bought this one and parts of it with parts of my existing lock. It was very easy, and the price is good. http://www.vintagetr...
