I would think that he would have a lot of other focuses and priorities than attending BM '06. It can truly be a wonderful event but perhaps waiting until next year would be the more responsible thing to do. As a friend, I'm sure you want to see him come out and succeed. Burning Man is not an easy ev...

My Drive is 16 hours to the Playa so I do have experience with the long drives and being excited to hit the Playa. Keep in mind if you lose out on sleep the first day it can be hard to catch up on that because you will want to keep going & going and your system can be beat up by lack of sleep, dehyd...

I bring up a portable garage evaporative cooler. Works great! Coming from Phoenix we don't really care about the heat out there as it is a nice break from 115...but the evap is a great way to go.

water

I freeze bottle water beforehand and use this to pack the food in/around. Keeps the cooler from being so messy and a great way to save on space. Less water poured on the playa and you have to Hydrate...heat exhaustion will knocked you out for longer than you think. Beer, water, shot, water, bloody m...

Evap

I had a 40 foot dome last year that I cooled with an evaporative cooler. I kept the unit inside the structure and actually installed flex ducting to get the cool air up to the top of the dome (allowing the cool air to fall). My dome was covered with a shrinkwrap material so the cooler air stayed in ...

The Size of the MAN..

I know it's not suppose to be the size that matters but...are there renderings of the Man yet? Last years was certainly not as impressive in years past to me. Don't want to appear ungrateful because I was just in awe of the temple. It seemed that they were downsizing the man, any truth there?

PVC is fine. Its lighter weight and easy to work with on the Playa. I've built domes out of it to form a stronger end product than a square or rectangle. Most schedule PVC sold in home improvement stores will be schedule 40 which is ok but the thicker the better. I would use at least 1 inch in diame...

Domes of PVC

I built a dome last year from PVC that was 30 feet in diameter. I have the plans and all of the parts list etc. if you would like it. I also came up with a solution for covering the dome with a product made for shrink wrapping buildings and boats. In all, the structure worked well and I saved the PV...

The 55 gallon will most likely not have the support on the sides. Water weighs almost 9 lbs a gallon...actually I think it is 8.9 lbs. So you will have to carry 490lbs. My suggestion is to buy 2 33 gallon containers from home depot for under 10 bucks each and that is easier for 2 people to move. I i...

I would stick with canned air from the office supply. Its true that condensation can build in the compressor and the heat doesn't bother the cans...at least not in the 112 degrees here in phx.
Are you wrapping your system in some type of ventalated bag or is this not feasable?

Badger is right, The only holes you are allowed to dig are for post support. Your suppose to place the playa soil in a bag for replacement. I believe the size of the hole can be 6 inches wide and up to 2 ft deep, and they want you to use a post hole digger. I will post the link to where I got this i...
