Nice job, it looks really nice.

3:30 and Catharsis, I'll spread the word, we're not too far away.

One more day to departure!

BTW, it'll suck if the next updated picture was taken when there was no sign of BRC!!! Think about it. 90% of the time you'd see nothing.

I agree with the 40,000 estimate. I don't know how often the google maps are 'supposed' to be updated, but I can tell you the following: - That google satellite image was exactly the same 3 weeks ago when I first discovered it. This was before the roads were mapped, so it is definately not this year...

We're an afternoons pub/bar - Citrus Camp. We don't have room for a pool table, but we'd be happy to tip people off as to your location. It would work best if you found a pub/bar near your location. Citrus is at 4:30 & Fetish this year. Where's your camp? I'd love to come play a game (even though I ...

Re: last minute electrical questions!

Also, this application is only needed for 2-3 hours at most. I can get a regular 12-v battery, and not need to go deep-cycle, yes? Or...? You don't *need* to go deep cycle, but if you expect the battery to last you should. I use an old car battery that still has life in it as a deep cycle, but I'm ...

Check the sticky thread 'Stages Seeking Artists.' GlowScreen posted that Wiskey and Whores Camp in Asylum Village has an actual piano.

The same story (shorter version) was in the 8/19 Palo Alto Daily News. I couldn't find an online version to link so I'm glad somebody was able to. Thanks for sharing this with the community. Following up from some potential 'vigilantes' in some other threads concerning stopping 'lawbreakers': justic...

Great idea Phil - maybe next year. Already I'm struggling to finish up details for the rather substantial projects I'm contrubiting to my camp (Citrus Camp). BTW, a friend sent me this great arial/satellite shot (not sure which - it's pretty high for sure) of BRC. http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=40.7...

Thanks Phil, that's what I saw.

I guess we can't register to vote in BRC after all.

BRC, Yahoo Maps, zip codes, voting

Maybe I'm the last to realize, but maybe not so I'll share my excitement: Black Rock City NV is actually recognized as a destination/location by Yahoo Maps! The location is just about right, too. Pretty wild! Surely there are some yahoo burners out there. I wonder if we'll be included in the 2010 ce...

And, when outside the event, don't get 'near' the perimeter fence. They partrol it looking for people sneaking in, etc. I'm not exactly what 'near' is.

I plan on coming back 'off season' to check out various other natural features on the playa. I don't want to leave during the week!

Greetings Burners, and soon to be Burners, Like Petalford, 2005 will be my 3rd burn, and like many others it took several attempts before I actually made it (2 years cuz of work, 1 year for marriage, and 2 years for poverty). During those fails attempts, though, I did help many theme camps build stu...

Thanks for the tips. I've never worked with rebar, but I imagine I'll need a good size mallet to wack it in.
Yeah, you need one of those mini-sledges, those one handers that are like the child of a full size sledge and a regular hammer.

For me it was the little things that provided comfort for me to roam. Camelback; chap stick; sunblock; dust masks; bike; gatorade; wide brim pith helmet; clothing in layers; head lamp for my noggin. Extras of these things are great gifts, especially if you do some art on them ahead of time to make ...

We're certainly not abandoning our placement. Our dogtags are already printed, plus we want to stay in the good graces of the BM powers that be. But I can't say the same for other theme camps who feel like they're getting the shaft because they stepped up to be an "officially" placed camp. They mig...

First, Aluminet is not conductive (I just checked). Further, the safest place to be in an electrical storm is inside a garbage can - this is called a Faraday cage, and BTW is how Megavolt doesn't get electricuted. Your tent poles, which don't *surround* you with a conductive surface, are far more da...

Re: Better shade material: Camo netting or tarps w/holes?

HI everyone! This year is my virgin burn. I'm putting together a PVC dome with 20foot PVC spans and making a pseudo-geodesic dome (20 foot spans that are curved -- actually makes about a 6-foot radius dome). I'm obviously going to attach it down with rebar and good rope. Anyway, I'm looking for the...

tarps under tents

Does having a tarp under your tent help with the rain or does it seem to puddle it under your tent? Absolutely!! A tarp or sheet of plastic. The trick is to fold any 'extra' back under you tent so that it doesn't catch the rain. A properly set-up ground tarp should not be readily visible. This shou...
