Re: The 747

Case in point. The catacombs. I'm not sure it was ever completely finished. People kept climbing them even though the shingles flew off under their feet. The Catacomb watch crew had their hands full. Some asshats came early and STOLE the art off the shelves. They even took one of the BIG gongs. The...

Re: Vandals Strike 2016 Sound Camp Infrastructure

Neither the airport nor gate hours are the cause of our current troubles. The wealthy have always been here, and the weekend warriors too. And for the record, the airport is not merely the domain of the 1%. The problem is that the Org has decided that the benefits of the plug n play outweigh the dra...

Re: Vandals Strike 2016 Sound Camp Infrastructure

You CAN choose to avoid that whole scene. Deep in the city at 6:30 and F, we had our own fun camp. There were so many people who stuck their dicks in the bug zapper glory hole, that we ran out of swag for it. Guys and girls twirled on our electrified stripper pole. Body shots were had, Frito Pie was...

Re: 2016 Exodus: Traffic, stories, etc.

Grai is fine now. I keep forgetting not everyone was there or heard the story. He decided to help me clean up after our pewter medallion casting workshop, and dropped a few scrap pieces in my furnace when I walked away for a moment. One of the pieces must have been wet as the metal basically explode...

Re: 2016 Exodus: Traffic, stories, etc.

Thursday night's midnight run to Renown in Reno was one of the scariest drives I've ever done. 447 alone is bad. Alone at night is worse. But with VERY little traffic and a wounded (and blinded) husband next to me? Probably the most dangerous part of our burn. I hope to NEVER have to do that again.

Re: AMBER Alert abuse

We had one pulse in Exodus before the Sunday Amber Alert hit. When we hit Exodus, they were saying 4-6 hours. It was closer to 10. If we had left when we originally planned on Monday morning, we would have missed our flight. Exodus has been really good for the past two years. This year was a much ne...

Re: My gift? Is it allowed

Actually, If you want to put on a mustard yellow blazer, grab a binder and offer to"show" some nice couples some prime playa addresses, THAT would be pretty funny. For some people, bringing their day jobs to the playa is a welcome gift. For others (like me) it's a chance to try out a NEW job. Like b...

Residential, or commercial?

Stop by Hungry Hungry Hookers at 6:30 & F and we can drink and discuss the looming enclosed mall default crisis.

We have two second years, but new to camp life. That's enough responsibility for me right now.

We've also half adopted one in our area. He's not camping with us, but we've been helping each other out.

Re: How much effort is required to organize a camp?

Anyway, I think you're asking a different question using non-standard jargon. Leaving out your own internal camp, I THINK you're asking how hard is it to find space at Burning Man to set up your camp. The answer depends on what type and how much space you are looking for There are "Placed " camps. R...

I think it happened to someone on here last year. Deep breaths. You have time to resolve it.

Also, did you order in two separate transactions? Even with the same address, if there's two transaction numbers, they'll ship separately.

Re: Partying during Early Arrival?

This will be number five for me and six for grai. I definitely went a bit nuts my second year. More art, more infrastructure. I kidnapped a virgin who was looking for another camp, put a drink in her hand, shoved her on the Cloud car and told her that this was for the best. Every year we play the si...

I think you're missing the point a bit. There no hidden mysteries. No OT Levels to climb on your bridge to clear. We put it out there for everyone to see and understand. What is being referred to here, is that sophomore burners can go through something like a megalomania. I did. You're not a virgin ...

Re: First timer... What to bring?

In snack foods, I have one rule. I bring what I crave in the real world, but don't indulge in too much because it's bad for me. Sliced pepperoni(no refrigeration necessary), cheez-its, gummy candy, etc. I made the mistake of trying to be all natural and healthy my first year. Didn't eat half of it. ...

Oh the fun I've been missing... positive air pressure, clean rooms, etc. There's a law of diminishing returns here. Re: Worth Building a Monkey Hut for 1-2 People?

Having built a monkey hut just for myself, I highly recommend it. While I agree that it does have a less welcoming look for guests, it was perfect for me in that it allowed for guests and shade, but also expanded my living space. It feels kind of private and I was happy to change clothes in it even ...
