Re: The Bar, Volume #4

Mothballs are serious poison. Really serious poisen. So serious that htey wouldn't be approved for usage in the United States if they hadn't existed as a product for so many years. I'd advice against using it at all. But I don't think cedar is going to be good against mice. My god... what the hell ...

Now why would we do that when we can just write a script to auto-filter the image in GIMP and fire up an instance on EC2 to host it?

Re: And you thought Krug was bad....

I saw the thing and it looked like some form of a joke. Yea, yea, they should take it down. They designed some eyeglasses, they played with them and took pictures, and put it on the blog in a somewhat joking manner. Big deal. On the level of coconut ice cream if you ask me, just take down the stupid...

Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genera, Species... Not that they could actually use that as street names. The planets was hard enough. There is also domain, tribe, section, series, variety, form, cohort, branch, legion, morph - nothing beginning with 'A', though. Maybe 'authority' for the na...

Re: ROOT SOCIETY 2012

People always say that their RVs are different - like, "oh yea, I have completely secured my RV, no way it will get unhitched and blow away". The truth of the matter is that it is just about impossible to take a bunch of RVs and not lose one somewhere. Entitled burners just have to bring their RVs, ...

I'm anti-weekending the Alchemy regional. Not totally by choice, loosely related to the circumstances that caused me to both weekend and anti-weekend, i.e. zero-day-trip, BM2012 :( Didn't mean to insinuate any judgement of weekenders or anti-weekenders, although I don't think it was taken that way. ...

Re: MOOP Map Live 2012 Edition

Is there any way to get a higher resolution image of the camp placement layout map before the MOOP colors are added? - One in which the camp names are legible?

I spent at least 4 hours searching for that after 2011 and finally found a bunch of photos of various pieces. Can't remember who posted it.

I have to say that it often isn't what's called for, but it's something those of us without a bunch of basic skills can use to accomplish something . Duct tape is always the wrong answer. But it is always an answer, nonetheless. I agree with the heat thing - I have been holding my passenger side mi...

The thing that really pisses me off is that goose had to look someone at the gate right in the eye and lie to them. Re: 2N2222 LED Controller Question

First note: the 250 ohm resistor is unnecessary if you use a 50K base resistor. Transistors are current amplifiers so 50K at 5 volts is 0.1mA at the base; typical DC current gain is 200, so collector current would be 200 * 0.1mA = 20mA. The collector-emitter voltage will automatically change to ens...

2N2222 LED Controller Question

So I am using a 2N2222 Transistor to control a bunch of LEDs. Here is the circuit with an Arduino as the controller: Screen shot 2012-09-09 at 8.07.38 AM.png This works just fine. I set pin 13 to high and the LEDs turn on. I set pin 13 to low and they turn off. Groovy. Now I want to use a trick. I w...
