Something doesn't have to be a particularly good fuel to be used, it simply has to be efficient in the sense of BTU per dollar. If we continue artificially inflating the price of mineral fuels, other fuels become economical. Turpentine might not have been economical enough 10 years ago but might be ...

I like to get a fairly broad perspective if I can. Now because I linked to an article doesn't mean I agree with everything in it. Often there is a nugget in there, though, nestled in all that crap. Sometimes it is just a matter of showing someone's general mindset. Like it or not, many of these peop...

I have been waiting for them to use turpentine for fuel. There was an engine that used diesel/turpentine mix, switching to pure turpentine once up to speed or something like that. Completely renewable.

RE: Gold and silver. Yes, according to his graph, it is approaching a support level so that there would be a break in one direction or the other is no surprise. Oh, I don't think I am being dismissive of the problem of the outflows, that is going to cause huge turmoil in the markets. I am, however, being dismissive of that person's *reasons* for those outflows.

I do dismiss his analysis but not his observation.

"Huge outflows have struck from US-based bond funds, while the outflows continue for stock funds since may 2010." One must be careful here of projecting their own pet theory into these outflows. There are a couple of very simple mechanical reasons for them. 1. A large portion of stock and bond funds...

I think the commenter is correct. Democracy in and of itself is not the factor that decides, it is the attitude of the people involved. In Sweden, the people recognized that the current system was unsustainable and enacted changes. In the US, I am not convinced that people will accept changes. Publi...

Actually, china isn't funding that debt. It is people who are not yet even old enough to work that will have to repay it, and they are the ones ultimately funding it. I disagree, tort reform is crucial. These idiotic "litigation lotto" lawsuits have to stop. 1.
