Re: Where Are You Volunteering in 2016..... ?

'We love you lamplighters" Cheering the procession on is a great way to participate - many of the walk-in volunteers don't really have a clue what they're in for when we tell them about an hour+ of carrying something heavy on their backs for a mile. The cheering helps keep their spirits up. <3 Ratty

Re: Where Are You Volunteering in 2016..... ?

I've been in every lamplighting procession since I started attending. No plans for that to change, although among the lamplighters nightly for four years really isn't that impressive of a volunteering streak. Thinking of volunteering at lamplighters one night... lamplighters... yeah, I think it's go...

Re: 2016 One Item A Day For BM List....

These came from a day bed out in the bunk house. They look like they will convert into bike racks quite nicely. This is really clever, BeeWeeDee! I'll keep my eye out now - my camp definitely needs bike racks! I scored a large, free padded cloth for protecting furniture while moving. Should make a ...

The Bone Tree was created by Dana Albany at the request of Larry in 1999. You can read the full story here, and it even includes the artist's mailing address! http://www.leonardo.info/gallery/burningman/albany.html Flash Hopkins also worked on it, apparently: http://flashhopkins.com/art-projects/

Re: What's it like camping on Rod's Road?

Center Camp is great! We're in the middle of it all but I would say we're not too loud, unless you mind the Lamplighters playing the same damn song for hours on end. * There is easy access to Recycle camp, ice, playa info, Black Rock City Dimension of Accessibility (for injured or other burners who ...

Re: Anyone have feedback on a Kodiak 10x10 ft tent?

BBadger, the 9x8' Kodiak does have vents, so I assume the larger ones do too. We just purchased the 9x8' - we went with that size because the poles collapse down to a very convenient packing size that easily fit in a trunk. It's plenty big enough for a pair of people and their totes, if you're frien...

Went camping over the weekend to break in the new 9x8' tent. It's massive! And tall enough that my better half doesn't have to stoop!

Sav, that's a good reminder that we need to get our vehicle reserved. Is starting a list enough of an item for today?

You guys think of that as junk, but people do live there. DPW, box office, tech team, and other core staff members - many of which are on site for weeks - live in that neighborhood. Every abandonware vehicle that gets parked there is one less opportunity for people camping that bring art into the n...

I'm glad you guys have always been mindful of emergency exits. Part of the fun of a maze is a "trapped" feeling, but if that suddenly becomes overwhelming, not-fun, or dangerous, it's good to know a participant can flee.

We ran the numbers again and it's even less than a 30 lb difference, so we're almost certainly going to opt for stronger. We also did some tests of how much the metal deflects under anticipated weight stresses. In other words... we've been buying short sections of tube, suspending them from the ends...
