Re: Playa Hands - Tips to treat (or avoid) playa hands

I never have serious problems on the playa with my hands. If the ropes we use are really dry, it can get painful occasionally, but my real problem comes after the playa. My hands molt for 2 weeks. I've had campmates that dont have this issue. Anyone else?

Re: Still haven't gotten your tickets?

I'm in SF. My friend and I both ordered our tickets shipped separately to my house. They were delivered August 16th with no email warning. They were held at the post office since I wasnt home, and I went to pick them up. The USPS slip said they'd be returned to sender on August 31 if not claimed. My...

Re: A Newbie lament

A burn with 200 people would definitely be challenging in all those areas. I'd probably want to invite a friend to one so small. I will say that that is worse than I would have thought (punctuality, etc). Cliques of people can be challenging at burns sometimes -- I know I've felt it (especially at a...

Re: Yet another monkey hut enthusiast

For the record, 1.5" PVC will be way too rigid for your MH. If you're doing 20' ribs or shorter, you should stick with 1" PVC. 1.25" PVC MAY bend enough, but I'm not certain of that. If you're trying to do 30' ribs, I think 1.25" could work well. We use 1" PVC for our 30' ribs and it is a little ben...

No kidding... jesus... wth is that thing. Why not just use a vertical press? Sideways thing seemed unnecessary, but really cool.

Re: Are there any Psytrance Theme Camps?

Yolo -- do some googling before asking such questions. People here (occasionally myself included) tend to be pretty tough on those who haven't tried to find the answer on their own first. Here's the thread from the last person to ask this question (and, coincidentally, the first google result for "b...

Agreed with what the captain said. Embrace a bit of chaos. Often these 'hiccups' turn into the best playa experiences.

Re: "Gabled" Hut ??

Never tried it msyelf, but I would fear it bending. Huts like that are usually made of PVC, which can bend and spring back; however, that guy would bend and crimp, I'd think. The EMT structures I see built have the shade cloth parallel with the ground so as to minimize its wind load.

Re: Yet another monkey hut enthusiast

I would echo the statements about the tarp or PVC eventually failing. I dont think it'd last 7 months in the sun. For one, as it gets really hot, PVC will sag, especially if you've got long lengths. Also, your tarp will probably disintegrate on you and/or the grommets may rip out during a big storm....

Re: Advice: Moving to the Bay Area

Best advice I could give is to do some actual research on sites that specialize in the kind of information you're looking for. On its best day, this isn't much of a real estate board or neighborhood guide, and those types of resources already exist on the internet. SF and Oakland are both very big ...

Oh man, I didn't even realize that the dildo was your camelbak mouth piece. Wow. WOW. That's amazing. How does the bite valve work? *cringe* I pulled the bite valve off the tube, then fed the tube thru the dildo and reattached the bite valve on the other end, so you don't TECHNICALLY suck directly ...

That picture is literally everything Burning Man, summed up in one image. Beautiful sunrise. Spirit hoot but prepped for desert with a kaffiyeh, headlamp and the camelbak. Serious face. Just a wonderful dramatic shot. And that's when you notice the dildo. I find the dildo encourages proper hydratio...

There is no talent in manufactured noise.. It takes no talent to the claim of being a DJ. Perhaps you mean "it doesn't imply talent when one claims to be a DJ"? That, as the Captain said, I would agree with. Good DJs, however, are absolutely talented musicians. The "notes" they play are just much l...

Music is music. Pretty sure the designation of "serious" is completely subjective and essentially meaningless. there is no right answer.
