Re: Cheap carport deal

I just bought two Shelterlogic brand 10x20 carports on sale at Peps Boys Automotive, they were marked down from $99 to $79 for their 4th of July sale. The sale goes through sunday. There is also a $30 mail in rebate, the rebate paper work says the rebate is good on purchases till August 4th. When I...

Not that I'd ever agree with you church ladies or the org, but where does it say in the Ten Principles that they have to talk to you at all? They don't, which I acknowledged in the first post: I also realize you have absolutely no obligation to respond to this; however, I think it would go a very l...

Response to BBS

Also, I'm not expecting someone from the Org to actually log on to reply, for more or less exactly the reasons you stated (they'd drown under the bandwidth of spew). But perhaps some sort of response could be posted elsewhere on the site. Like in the enviroblog area perhaps. (P.S. Totally off the su...

RE: Who needs branding?

Perhaps you're right; maybe the words they chose aren't the issue at all. I think what I'm after is not necessarily an reason for the action itself, but the background thought that motivated it. If we're truly viewed as a commodity to be purchased and sold, that would go a long way toward explaining...

Will the Org respond to the 2.0 controversy?

(These comments are directed toward members of Burning Man's LLC. The word "you" refers to "the Org" throughout. Be advised that this is the fourth time I've scratched everything I've written and started over on this. It may be kinda wordy. Coffee and a smoke would be good about now.) +++++++++++++...

RE: citizens theme

Gotta go with the simpler one of the two.

Plus, I did this one the other day, and it's too early in the morning to bust out the Photoshop again.

The new theme is unusually catchy.

Not trying to threadjack... I realize this is a very serious topic.

However, someone had to do this.

RE: Culture Jamming

Remember the guys they used to pay at shopping malls to have people take surveys and test products and all that crap when all you wanted to do was go in and look at the lizards in the pet store? Get a bunch of those guys. Pretend to be with the company of your choice. Wear nice conservative clothes....

Really long post, and now I'm late for work, dangit.

Except... not go. If you were that pissed about it you'd blow off BRC and start your OWN event. NOT buy a ticket, NOT be on this board, NOT feed the behemoth, and NOT be a sheep. Because, in spite of its flaws, Burning Man still matters. Read on... Because... if enough people don't like it, and don...

Stormclouds Again

Oh, yeah... petitions, protests, civil disobedience? Sign me up, all of the above. Somebody made a cannon that fires pants, for crying out loud. I think we can pretty much pull off anything we want.

Stormclouds on the Horizon

From the article: "That's a very interesting potential for companies that see a value in Burning Man culture." From Marian Goodell: "The business model can totally function without Larry Harvey." Finally, from The Hat himself: "Make your customers feel like owners." Whether this is good or bad can ...

Seeing the Man everywhere

Maybe I'm nuts, but every time I see one of this company's buses, it makes me want to run off to the desert. Something about that logo is juuuuust close enough to spark the memory:

Of course, I could just be missing the Burn and seeing what I want to see. Meh.

Makin' Bacon with Macon

... add sliced potatoes, onion, and sweet pepper ... maybe a couple of anaheim chilis if you want a little zing. Sprinkle with a little black pepper and serve when the taters are tender.
<drool> So, um... where are you camping this year? </drool>

Possible Bacon Assistance?

Just a thought, don't know how this would go on the playa, but I'll be tryin' it this year... Hormel makes precooked Black Label bacon, I buy 'em at Sam's Club. Big huge bag, several wax-paper-like things with about 12 strips o'love on each one. Seems like it would work pretty well, no scorching as ...

Best of luck!

It sounds like you've got a good plan in place. I've done fasting a couple of times before, but never made it past 10 days either (due, I think, to poor planning and not really knowing what to expect). I may try it again this year; I want to be as healthy as I can be out on yonder playa. Best of luc...

Hey BMIX!! I can't wait, I can't wait, etc. Woo-hoo! Big shouts to MissNev. How are things in your part of the U.S.? Shoot me an email one-a-these days... 'Ass Clown' is also one of my faves. The first reference for this one (to my knowledge) was indeed in Office Space, but I like the term even bet...

Maybe it's just something (someone) incredibly stupid. What's more stupid than someone's ass? The hat the ass is wearing, of course...

Doesn't answer the question of where the word comes from, but may start a fashion trend. Eh.

Oklahoma is....well, Oklahoma. Not bad if you know where the cool people went.........ok......gimme a hint. Wow! You mean there's another Sooner State burner? I'm in Tulsa, and most of the people I talk to say things like, "why are you going to Birmingham?" But I guess that's a common reaction ever...
