Re: Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP)

So the, say 59,500 people in line past the first several hundred are just cut out of any chance at STEP? Or do you put all 60,000 that missed tickets in? Most importantly, there is one huge flaw in this idea: it assumes that everyone who entered the Main Sale wants to enter STEP. This is how I woul...

Re: Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP)

The problem with this - there is no way for you to know where you were in line, so even if the BMorg did this people would still scream that they weren't as close to the front of the line as they "should" be. The "line" is also over multiple servers - which server gets precedence? How do you combin...

Re: Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP)

Did you read a thing I said man...? I was saying that I want the lottery system It's pretty apparent he did. BM tried the lottery once, and it resulted in the internet equivalent of people being burned at the stake, en masse. I dare say we won't see another lottery for a while. Because I work with ...

Re: STEP - How fast I have to be?

Did anyone expect anything different on STEP. The general sale was compromised with hackers. You saw the counter move up after every refresh as the hacker pushed by you. Today you again saw the same thing one more time. Hacker: (n) Someone who looks at the javascript source and clicks a link.

Re: Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP)

How many people actually are dying to go, put in a lot of effort (including in secondary market) and come up empty handed? Really? From BMans own numbers this year : almost 80,000 people entered the Main Sale for 40,000 tickets. Yes, really. However, note that I'm talking about the past years, not ...

No email confirmation yet. My guess is they wanted to keep the servers as low-volume as possible. Seriously looking forward to time stamp comparisons!

Re: Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP)

I don't think any numbers can really accurately be collected, but I saw at least 100 burners along the highway on my way in on wednesday last year looking for tickets. If you figure that's only the most dedicated 5 or 10%, you're looking at a lot of folks who want to go and can't. I would argue tha...

That actually seems to make a *lot* of sense. Even if it didn't, why do they have these things coded up where those who hammer the hardest win?

Re: Secure Ticket Exchange Program (STEP)

Since the wheel uses AJAX, there's a chance that you're actually queued up and registered but no feedback back to the browser. You'd think it would show you success when you refreshed (but that *might* be what the success after resubmitting is). The page uses jquery so all that jazz is under the she...

Hopefully some magic is happening under the sheets and it was just the browser(s) caching some bullshit. I'm still going to be realistic though.

Hmm... I clicked the queue button pretty early on, but it just hung there for a while. When I refreshed the page at 2:04+ and clicked again I went right through (like, immediately). That's not a good sign, is it?

Thanks man -- I will hit that on Saturday I think.
I went to Mission last year (very briefly) and got a few goodies. I might need to invest a couple more hours.

Who knows... maybe USPS will actually get the box to me in time. :-/

Package went to wrong coast: last minute suggestions...

I know people have asked many times over, but as I'm in the bay area now, can anyone throw out a good suggest to pick up some man(-ish) gear on the weekend. I had a box of the few things I picked up this year sent out on Monday. Was supposed to arrive on Wednesday. And it did... in fucking Florida. ...

I might be missing something but I don't think you can change the ship to address now, as they're done shipping. If you change your name, they can pick them up at Will Call in their name.

Quite honestly, with the problems that are being reported on the board, I'd stick with Will Call if I were you. Especially if you're "not sure exactly when someone will be around to accept them". Sage advice, brotha. I'm actually in the process of repatriating (Go America!!!!), and keeping up with ...

Re: Are OMG tickets hard to get?

They will sell out extremely fast - as in: have your finger on the button at 12:00:01. There are 3,000 tickets (which is 2,000 more than originally planned), but as you can see at a glance looking at the Tickets Wanted forum, demand is incredibly high. I'd say get an atomic clock and try 12:00:00.0...

I'm still on the fence on whether to try Will Call or have the tickets shipped. If I change the method to delivered in the next couple of days, what's a good time to think they'll be delivered? I'm globe trotting at the moment, and not sure exactly when someone will be around to accept them. Too bad...

Jola, I've glued pompoms in my ArtCar using clear silicone caulk. It holds better than any fiber glue or hot glue gun. If you've ever gotten silicone on your clothes by accident you know it's nearly impossible to get it off. It holds up in heat, wet dusty, pretty much every condition on the Playa. ...

Thanks for all the replies! I may have now decided not to go with faux fur (after wading through the craft and costume thread and getting tons of other ideas!).
