Re: Buying a Ticket on STEP

I recall in 2012, the STEP queue was empty by the time it was closed, no? How did it work out in 2013? I remember seeing a lot of people that needed tickets on the way in. I seriously wondered how poor at planning someone would have to be to get all the way out there w/ no ticket.

Re: Who's In...Who's Out?

Just mentioning this. Of the 8 people I know trying to get tickets, two of us got them. BOTH of us say that we qued at 11:59, though it is possible our clocks were off. It's probably just random luck of the draw. I'm not even sure if your initial placement in the queue -- if there was a queue -- re...

Re: Will-Call or Mail?

Fantastic. On the technical and organizational level, absolutely zero complaints this year. So much easier than everything else in real life lately. So easy it makes me worry about what disaster might lie ahead between Reno and the Playa.

Haha - and have him jump onto ePlaya. I know message boards can be a bit clunky and let's face it, we're all a bunch of miscreants... but I noticed that most of the people who come in and participate in the site (as opposed to the drive-by ticket seekers) are able to find the tickets that they need...

Re: Will-Call or Mail?

Can we change the delivery method on Ticketfly later? I chose Will Call against my better judgement. My reasoning is that AFAIK, I'm going w/ some fellow non-US residents and they will have to wait in line anyway, so I might as well join. That might fall through though. One thing worth noting, is th...

Due to the time lag, if they went on sale 4 hours earlier it would be totally worth the extra $260 per ticket. Well... maybe. Guess it gives me a good excuse to stay up reading.

Re: Vehicle Passes and Burning Man Traffic Issues

@Captain Goddammit - as I've said in a couple places, it's necessary for Burning Man to get their arms around and have some control over the number of vehicles coming to the event. Many push their vehicles to capacity, but not everyone does. Well said. Entry and Exodus are still pretty clear in my ...

Re: New car fees and more great ideas

If it cuts down the entrance and exodus lines I'd pay a lot more. It was bad this past year, and other than getting people to car pool (and I agree the only way to do it is a hurdle) is to expand the road... and we know that's not going to happen.

If I understand the JackRabbit tonight - I have to pre-register between 12 noon February 20 and 12 noon February 23. Once pre-registered I can attempt to purchase my ticket(s) starting at 12 noon on February 26. Unfortunately on all those dates I will be out of the country and will not have access ...

I can only say "word" to this.
I'm sure every camp has some totally disorganized people that wait until the last minute.

I guess we can assume vehicle passes will be available through STEP?

Thanks Sham, I hope you are well! Any major tips for us virgin burners? My one tip is to not do Will Call if you can avoid it. I did it once and it was just more time on top of an already amazingly trying queue in the car. You can make some nice connections there while waiting, but I was ready to t...

Just sounding off more praise. I think this is a great idea. There's a decent amount of light pollution out there, but the playa (and definitely the road to the playa) is the only time I can ever see even a hint of the Milky Way. Don't own any star-gazing gear, so a theme-camp would be great.

Kodachrome/Ektrachrome is out of production. Kodak pulled out of the reversible market as if it were it's high school girlfriend, unfortunately. I really like it... nice warm colors. Fujifilm is the only one that makes reversible now. It's still nice, but you have to use filters to get the same yell...

Figured I'd follow up on this. I got a lot of keepers, and am overall well with how things turned out. The weather was of course on my side, but I can feel a little dust in the gears. Clearly the housekeeper, because you sure seem like a quite and humble dude when it comes to your cameras, no one would find out from you that you take photos. Let's call it room to improve: One of the best photo ops I think are the post-rave sunrises. Yet, I only partook in one (in full). I got about 20-30 keepers from my digital camera (of only 85 on said camera). Should have packed a roll of B&W and a roll of color. The photos are fine, but I was aiming...

We rolled in Monday morning to learn we were camping about 100 meters from RObot Heart. The music was beyond loud, and all I wanted to do was sleep. Luckily I was tired enough. The rest of the week they stayed out well past the hour I'd wake up. Other art cars were loud of course, but hey.. who give...
