Definitely a troll, possibly even the same person who burned the ticket. Consider that their first ever post on eplaya was about the burned ticket.

Re: Adult Big Wheel (How would this do at Burning Man)

Due to the center of gravity being on the back wheels, and the drive wheel being in front, I would predict that it would sit in one place while scooping dust into the rider's face.

Re: Burning Man Cookbook

Nice idea! You could also (if you have time) take videos of people preparing their favorite dish. In the following months, you could slowly edit the videos and post them on youtube as sort of a weekly cooking show.

Those are good goggles, maladroit. I have a pair of those. (You got the interchangeable clear lenses too, I trust?) Yep...sun wind and dust goggles. Have the clear lens too. They need to fit over glasses for daytime use. I also have some prescription motorcycle sunglasses that have some amount of f...

I got to see live ones from a few inches away, at an aquarium recently. They're pretty cool, kind of like parrots that float.

The vest is so that I can stuff the pockets full of necessities and not risk leaving a backpack anywhere. It will be a little hot, since it's black...but it's also mostly made of mesh. It'll breathe. I happened to be wearing a black shirt underneath but will be wearing a white or light shirt most of...

That ice-based cooler will fuckin destroy your wallet as you'll become way too familiar with Arctica. Just plan on an evaporative cooler, and double your water budget.

Re: How to keep medications at room temperature?

I would suggest a very small highly insulated cooler, with a Peltier junction, thermocouple, and PID controller. You would then need a source of reliable power, probably not much...maybe 20W? An engineer like me would know how to put all this together, so I'd suggest finding a local guy to handle it.

Re: Service Dog on the Playa?

A person that goes to Burning Man (usually) knows what they are going to experience. A dog does not know, and can't plan ahead, or decide not to go. It is totally dependent on the owner. People can complain to others, call for help, describe what they're feeling. They can seek out shelter or water a...

The bare, painful minimum would be PVC, Home Depot parking lot, and a hacksaw.

Upgrade to a jigsaw and some method of actually powering it, and you're living in luxury.

I'm making elastic paracord bracelets. They aren't very fancy and I'm no craft genius, but I'm sure I can find people who might need 7 feet of paracord someday.

I just go to 99 Ranch and buy packs of the big seaweed sheets. Way cheaper. I saw the same thing in Safeway, packaged differently, for $4.00. At 99 Ranch, I can get six or more times the same net weight for the same price. Once you get used to the taste of seaweed, it sort of has the same appeal as ...

Re: Debating whether to go this year, advice for a noob welc

In any case, it's camping in the desert, not extreme snowboarding. However, there is a possibility of things going sideways at high speed. If one more head blow will kill you, even while wearing a helmet, you take your chances. Going outside is not as safe as staying in your living room...usually. F...

Re: dealing with ice

Pour ice melt into container. Seal container. Set in sun until water is warm. Use for shower and clean-up stuff. While you're using one, the other is warming up. It seems like sun-warmed, tepid water would be in much greater supply than chilly, ice-cold water. Surely the cold water would be valuabl...

Re: Get your vehicle ready

10W-30 is recommended for my Jeep if 100F+ temperatures are expected during that oil change. The reasoning is that, with a temperature-dependent viscosity oil, 5W-30 will eventually get too runny to effectively protect moving parts, since it shears down to lower viscosity over time. It'll be especia...

I get store brand (Safeway) just-add-water buttermilk pancake mix, it's pretty good. When camping though...no need to wash a bowl. Just use a paper bowl. I'm not usually cooking more than a few pancakes, anyway. You can also get a wide variety of cheap takeout containers with lids at a store like Sm...

Get your vehicle ready

There are some tips here: http://www.burningman.com/preparation/event_survival/exodus.html Most of this is common sense for any long trip, but it'll be a horrible mess if you are stuck 50 miles from the nearest place that has a tow truck, which is already busy towing the other people with breakdowns...
