Re: Testing a Monkey Hut - Fail

We are turning my 15ft MH into a 40ft MH this year. This could either go very well or very, very badly. the first 15ft will be aluminet and the newer (25ft) part will be 90% shade cloth - which means we will be able to settle the age old argument of which is better! Both ends will be staked down an...

Wouldn't the load from the guy wire pull the end rib off the spine? Or do you just counter this by multiple fasteners and load in the opposite direction?

Re: Help please easy to construct shade structure

seen a video of a guy on the edge of the playa , he had a camo netting over a stucture , looked like he had shade and the wind went thru it pretty well. Can you set up camp in the deep playa? Can you be adopted if you're over 18? I met a really friendly Canadian couple in their 60s and I think they...

Re: Testing a Monkey Hut - Fail

One thing I've heard over and over on here is: love the dust. Because whether you love it or hate it, it's going to own you. May as well embrace it. Is it typical to guy the front and rear ends of the MH? I've seen some people do it (including the pics above) but it's not suggested in the directions...

Re: One Item for BM a Day

I love scores like that. I got my tent for $5 at a garage sale and have put it through some serious abuse (desert camping, festivals, etc.). It's still good to go and will be housing me at BM. Feel a lot better doing that than going out and buying a $200 tent and worrying all week about whether or n...

This thread is actually something everyone should read. I keep coming up with things to buy, like a tent, and then realize "umm, I own three tents, what the hell?!!"

Wait, so there WILL be a forest? Please advise once you have a location. Ours will be a Ewok Village/Adult Playground sort of thing. The schematics look awesome. I've never used Dr Scholl's but have a pair of SuperFeet that I've owned for probably 8 years. And I've abused the ish berries out of them. They still work great. BUT, there's no "are you gellin" going on. Meaning, you're not going to put your feet in your shoes then feel like you're walking on a wa...

Personally, the sight of the Sunday Wallymart in Reno and the sheer chaos of everything is all part of the experience. I've seen grocery stores hours before a cat 3 hurricane slams aground and yet nothing, NOTHING can compare to the pre-burn rush. For us, its the Walmart in Fernley. LOVE THAT...

Question about the monkey hut... the directions call for one rib structure, but in the picture it looks like there is one inside and another outside??? How does the thing actually go together? I've read those instructions quite a few times and I'm not clear on what you're asking. I think if you re-...

Take your icemelt and put it in your Bucket Cooler thing...or into your garden sprayer that you add a small amount of vinegar to and then spray on yourself.

I'm really not kidding this time. I swear

I use an old skillet that is three inches deep. It serves (pun) all cooking needs. It can even help me get adequate sleep if I hit myself on the head with it. I have not seen one of these in a store in many years, but the faded brand name on the bottom seems to read "Indica" . Indica pot makes me p...

I wonder about that...I wonder if taking someone with "fixed" beliefs to BM would help to shatter their fear-based beliefs, OR, if it would a) break them down psychologically or b) piss them the F off and cement their belief that "our types" are a bunch of drug-loving hippy communists. I think my final solution, If I didn't want to be provoked and be forced to think about things I might ordinarily not think about I wouldn't go to BM. I've been educating a young co-worker about BM who is all excited about the prospect of going. The first thing I told her was if you're easily offen...
