Why is you guys working so hard on BURNcast about Burning Man (complete with "community" advertising, including an ad for your telecommunications company that gives you a free phone number, and ads for a sale featuring Da Bomb's furry hats and legwarmers) Hey y'all...don't forget! BURNcast is broug...

Lady, you so nailed that one on the head. There is a public speaking series on the playa that we're talking about doing that I hope is going to include a conversation with Chris or maybe some other reporters and writers about the media at Burning Man, hopefully held at Otter Oasis. When there's mor...

My enthusiasm for that story wasn't a question of getting more people to the event, or getting companies to come, either - it was the idea of publicly discussing this community seriously as a mass of human beings engaged in a business taking on a global issue through art that intrigued me. Yep, I t...

Green is the new Inquisition. It trumps everything. This is how corporations go Green. It's going to happen anyway I'm not sure it's a bad idea to have some influence on the process in this way. Since y'all don't come see me on Tribe, I thought it might be nice to share a little blog post I made la...

Actiongrl:
I noticed the changes to the Media Page the other night.
Thanks for making those changes (or to the appropriate parties that made those changes).

D'you mean the real Tribe mashing up with the real ePlaya, or a hypothetical mixing of the two? Huh, I just tossed it out there as an idea. If I had to flesh it out, maybe it would be a mashup of Tribe in that I look and feel of it (analogy: nice car) and the vibe and feel of ePlaya (analogy: frien...

ya learn something new every day....didn't know Tribe was THE place to be to discuss Burning Man. I find ePlaya much easier to navigate, it doesn't have obnoxious adverts, and this whole "Friends" crap on Tribe reminds me of the high school rush to have as many people as possible sign your yearbook...

Going off on a tangent, I find it very interesting that Larry Harvey addresses parts of the issues being discussed both here and over on Tribe through an ActionGrl post (or Andie as she's known over there)... How do we know these are the words of the great and wonderful Larry? To quote the Business...

My issue is that you folks are selective in your enforcement of copyright infringement. Who owns the mark? I'm really confused! I just heard a podcast with Heather Gallagher aka "CameraGirl" in which she draws parallels between Burning Man and open source models, as well as the event, Burners Withou...

Why would these start-ups even want to participate then? What's in it for them? That's not an argument. You could say that about any of us. What's in it for me? You're not invited to the party and asked to pay full price for your ticket and asked to put a bag on your face or otherwise obscure your ...

The Google with a man logo comes from 1998-99, when they were burners in or just out of college, and the LLC was an infant. The invited guests of BMorg, those green technologies in the Google Pavillion, are also start ups. If these start-ups disallowed from using their "face" or their logo or even ...

She also finished eighth-place on SURVIVOR: THE AUSTRALIAN OUTBACK. In September, 2001, Jerri appeared on the cover of Playboy and was the highest-selling...

Dear LeChat...I copy you on your respect and send it back to you in this message. You make a distinction between "advertising" (i.e. eBay) and "promotions" (i.e. Google). I do not. In my bookkeeping the two are filed as one to my tax accountant under the same heading. I object to the viral advertise...

Ron, I'm with you. That's funny. Personally, I'm not opposed to the BMorg growing their business. New age phrases come to mind: abundance, prosperity, etc. And why not? We live in America. The American dream is financial success. Burning Man is an American experience. The issue is: the Black Rock Ci...

By the way, if all that was happening was the donation of the solar panels and lights and the benefit to Gerlach, I would think that was really cool, really a great idea and a wonderful gift. But of course, that isn't all there is to it. It is not a gift. It is not a gift. It is not a gift. The wor...

What's more offensive to you church ladies -- using your ticket money to pay for tech fair exhibits, using it pay for hand-picked artists, using it to pay for select volunteers, or using it to pay for an entire gated community {drink}? Hey Lechat, These companies are not building homes or saving lives with their donations; they're showcasing their products. There's a term for this: quid quo pro.
