Re: 2017 Voided Ticket List available yet?

Mod note: thread subject edited for clarity. Ticketing hasn't released a voided ticket list yet, and even when they do it's never complete (they do the best they can, but they're dealing with a lot of moving parts the next two months). Once they release it to us we'll have it up, and update it as th...

Re: Place to park a camper van in San Francisco?

Totally honest: "affordable" and "parking" do not exist in SF. At least not anywhere you'd want to store something and come back to find it in one piece. We store our RV with a friend in San Bruno, I know others who store RVs/ Campers etc in the far East Bay (Concord, Walnut Creek, Pleasanton, etc)....

Re: Arriving 3 days late

There is no "late", you arrive when you arrive. Relax, it's just Burning Man, and no one could see everything in any given year even if they were on playa from the first second build started until the last second of clean-up. Enjoy the time you have on playa. :D

Re: 2017 Map?

Waves of fine fine playa dust form snakes. Not usually lethal but you may experience face plant if your bike hits one I've "heard" you may also break a rib if you hit one wrong while turning and land rib-first on the end of your handlebar. On a professional note: try not to do this on Monday as it ...

Re: Bringing a pet's ashes to be burned in the Temple or other large structure

There are lots of blog posts on the web about people putting family members ashes in the Temple ( even from Halcyon, the Pink-Haired Jesus of Burning Man ). Keiko is your family, please feel free to bring her in a burnable container and place her in the Temple. While it may not be officially allowed...

Re: What happens when your playabike craps out on the playa?

Worst case scenario - you walk. It happened to me one year when part of the frame rusted through. You'll live. :D Best case scenario - if it's beyond the basic bike maintenance supplies Ratty mentioned, walk it over to one of the bike repair camps (either check the guides or ask around) and see if t...

{Mod hat off} [snip]I am shocked we didn't get placement this year. On the flip side... we don't have to bring our massive shade structure, no dome, no dome yurt, no stage, no bar, no scaffolding, no kitchen, no showers, no talent show, no fashion show and no interactive art pieces (we have 4) beca...

Re: Can we do BM without a bike?

It's not insane to go without a bike (I have attended without a bike, several times) but for me, it's a lot happier WITH a bike. This. I've been without a bike out there, and it sucks. The spoke streets are long, but the A-F streets are even more ridiculously long due to the curve. The only time I'...

Will call isn't really delivery, but as far as I've ever heard they haven't lost any legitimate tickets - which is very different from people showing up there thinking they bought a third-party will call ticket & they got scammed instead. The catch: line to get your ticket, line to get back in line ...

Re: What are some of your favorite camps to visit at Burning Man?

"Favorite" is really subjective, and, just like the old joke about us Jews, if you ask 2 Burners a question you'll get three answers. I prefer hanging out in bar camps talking with people, so I head for places like Fandango's Slow Burn Lounge, Lucky's Bar in Barbie Death Village, Egg Bar, or ones I ...

Re: Burner Air Express - Now Open and Taking Reservations.

Criticize, judge, diminish others, it's sorta common defacto real world behavior. One of the most remarkable things I experience at BM is the lack of competition, judgment and prejudice. This. So much this. I have friends who've been Burning since the 90s, both of whom are part of legacy & legendar...

That's the true power of the Burn... it's not just do you go to THE party once a year... it's a spiritual way of life... Meh. For some people. It's not "spiritual" for all of us, not even all of us who are active in the Burn community year-round. There is no one definition for a Burner, never will ...

Re: Quality Lights?

I always buy mine off ebay, direct from China if possible (give yourself time for the order to arrive). The lights are less expensive than most specialty stores - even with shipping - & they've all lasted me multiple burns - camp lights, "fairy lights" for costuming and bikes, etc.

My statements are based on my own personal experience year to year since tickets began selling out about 8 years ago. And it's based on the experience of others I've seen. I know of no evidence that tickets are impossible to get in the weeks before the burn and no one cites any particular experienc...

But have no fear because tickets ALWAYS become readily available about 3 weeks before the burn. No, they don't. You might want to make people feel good, but since about 2013 if you want a ticket & don't have the luck to get it in one of the sales, you have to work for it. Join Burner groups, grow y...

Re: Gray water containers

Just a warning on the commercial services - as a small camp you operate on their hours, not yours. You may have to sit around waiting for them to service it, and someone from the camp has to sit there and wait until they pick it up. One year our neighbors wanted to head out, but United hadn't shown ...

Re: Plug n Play section of Theme Camp

One thing that hasn't touched on, and that should be a major factor in your decision making - if you have a "plug & play" section, you have to let BMorg know, and you have to pay outside service fees to the BLM to do it. If you try to run it in secret you stand the chance of having your whole camp b...

Re: ERROR - code assigned to you was already used

Consider the person who only buys a presale ticket, with the full intent of using it, but for whatever reason is then unable to go. I think it's perfectly legitimate for them to want to recover the full price they paid, especially if it is some financial hardship event preventing their attendance. ...
