Molting's a bitch...try shedding a tight aluminum suit! *a warm PBR is held aloft* Drink, my comrades! To the crew of The Fitz, gone these thirty years tonight to Superior's bottom! *barel...

Fuck, indeed.
My fucking position at the West Michigan Cancer Center was eliminated on fucking Monday, and I was fucking asked to leave without even getting my coat and keys, like I was a fucking criminal. "robotland" might have to go bye-bye, unless I get the good eplaya folks to forward me the password and swap...

You can grab pinches of 'chute material and tie them off with cord...Especially if the chute COMES with lines intact! You can also use zipstrips. No reason to punch holes in the material, except for wind vents. I'd suggest tying off at the top and around the sides as well as at the bottom, and perha...

UPDATE
UPDATE on the P.O.D.- I have submitted it to the WhoWhatWhen as Wednesday, August 31st from 10 to noon. I might add Thursday as well. If you wish to participate, post your location here as soon as you know it or can guess. If you can, make a Parade of Domes sign and compose a humorous blurb about yo...

BOY would I like to play with a big 'ol hunk of aluminum conduit! Should flatten nicely, especially if heat-softened....I wonder about its flexibility being a shortcoming for dome struts, though. If you're concerned about the corrosion problem, know that I keep my EMT domes assembled most of the yea...

I'd prefer it if instead of the traditional ticket system, the BMorg would set up a plexiglas cube at the gate with a sign reading "$250.00 Suggested Donation" and give spiffy red blazers to the Rangers, now to be referred to as the Black Rock Docents. Seriously, Burning man is the finest, most dive...

Miniman DID get out....he had a walk-on in my dream last night. Burning Man was being secretly held in a field with some big aircraft hangers or similar buildings....the Man and his circus tent were in one of them, and people were scurrying to finish the maze although I think it was already Saturday...

Another vote for the 2.5 gal briefcases. And bring a funnel- after it's empty, you can wrench that soft plastic cap-and-valve off and use them for coffee grounds and semi-liquid organic trash or graywater storage. (That's one reason to NOT cut the little better-flow-nib-thing above the spigot. just ...

We both need trucks, and a gas grant! Maybe it's time that you developed some sort of highway friendly sail system wind-powered vehicle. Okay. I'm joking. Too late- It's half built. Should make the return-trip MUCH faster, especially with all the water and food gone! okay.....I'M joking. (maybe) *e...

WARNING! 1/2" EMT is considered by the majority of those who contribute to this forum to be TOO THIN for domebuilding of any significant size.... 3/4" is STRONGLY SUGGESTED, although I feel your pain regarding the expense. Check dumpsters and scrapyards if necessary. If you go to the trouble of mak...

Oh, I've got MORE aluminum....Just might have to make a big heliotrope. Got lenses too- big ones, from that projection TV I gutted..... The "fried egg" warning/slide pad notion is BRILLIANT (!). It follows my "obtuse warning sign" philosophy, too- I've got some plastic duck heads from old decoys tha...

I overlooked wood as an option because of its bulk and the necessity for lotsa hardware. There are a few notable exceptions, of course- I spent a LOT of time ogling the Kaliedosphere back in '03. Damn nice piece of work, although it required a crew to assemble and was not of itself load-bearing. You...
