Fishy has helped hundreds of us with her sage wisdom. She makes us laugh and, mostly, she makes us think. Her pain is palpable to so very many who appreciate how she has reached out to us through this forum. There must be hundreds of arms longing to comfort her - I know mine are. Here's to you, Fish...

I drive an RV with trailer from central California and still buy much of my food/water/fuel in Reno. It keeps me from lugging the extra weight over Donner Pass.

Sara, I have been moved by your story and I thank you for making it a part of my experience. I am also a Christian - an ordained one at that. I am not young and I am happily, blissfully monogamous. And frankly, I cheered when I read the line, "of course I boned him". Thanks for your tale of emotiona...

HOWEVER, should the program continue to receive money from ice sales on the playa, I will volunteer to spend a few hours with you, holding ...

I hit the barbie motherlode while garage sale hopping this past weekend. I have about a dozen with one poor solitary Ken. Will drop off the new captives (along with their sisters that have been riding around with me in my car for the last month) first part of the week.

Fishy was on a golf cart being a charming cheerleader along the entrance road, complete with megaphone. I remember you saying that I should set up my camp over on the edge of the football field or up on the hill. (Obviously, the topography is a little off in this one.) Anti M was regally holding cou...

Scooters may be way more dangerous than your playa bike. My campmate "HE WHO SHALL REMAIN NAMELESS" seriously injured himself on my little electric scooter within the first 5 minutes of arrival at BRC a couple of years ago. Of course, the fact that he was already heavily celebrating our arrival on p...

On two occasions over the years neighbors of ours have been busted for smoke. One group made the mistake of setting a cooler of free beer (complete with a sign) out on the street - they had their camp raided and their pot was found. The other was a guy sitting in his own camp smoking on Sunday night...

After 8 years on the playa, my husband's first sober burning man was '04. THE BEST was listening to him tell his home group later that his last meeting on the playa was led by a naked woman. I agree completely with Phil. The rain in 2000 wasn't so bad. A bit of rain is really welcome as it knocks the dust down for a while. Most people were smart enough not to drive around while it was wet. The biggest problem in 2000 were the ruts at the edges of the intersections - once hardened, they ...

Martiansky - you are correct - the absolute most dangerous thing we encounter with the RVs is the WIND. It's like driving a giant billboard. Go to a craft store and buy a big bottle of fabric medium - it is an additive made for acrilic paint that makes the paint elastic and flexible. I have used it for many years and this year I'm using it to decorate a buch of used rubber army - issue gas masks for playa gifts.

Booger:

Keep in mind that some of the funk may not be just from the road. For us, (from sea level), the altitude change is an ass kicker for the first two days - causes serious grumblings and lethargy. Treat with rum, nookie and snoozing.
