Instead of plastic bottles or tennis balls on rebar, I have a new favorite - pool noodles. The ones with the holes down the center fit just right over the rebar and protect shins as well. I've seen some nasty bloody shins from running against the base of rebar that was otherwise protected at the top...

If there is a big line of cars at the Greeter's station when you come through, tell your greeter that you want to pull over so you can be de-virginized (there is a place to park just past and to the right of the greeter's station - porta potties available too). That way you can take all the time you...

Eventfarm - The people taking tickets and searching for stowaways are the GATE staff, not Greeters. You can recognize the Greeter's station by the little white tent-pylons with flags on them that you pass through AFTER you have left the gate. (It sounds like somehow you guys cruised right through th...

Oldguy - Regardless of your duty station, thank you for your service both in the military and in standing up for what you believe. My brother was in ROTC at UCSB when the Bank of America was burned. By the way - McNamara actually admitted a lot in his book which was only released a few years ago.

Hi Erin -

There is lots of activity in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo. As far as music, SLO is a college town and so lots more there than in Santa Maria. I live just over the hill from you in Lompoc - there are lots of burners around, just not so many on this board.

Welcome!

Try this website for good photos retrodiva.com They are a salon that does the kind of braiding you are talking about. The best hints I can give about long hair are: 1) Braid or keep hair up or in a pony tail = less exposure to the dust 2) Use a leave-in conditioner after shampooing on the playa

Something we have done for years that I don't even think about much anymore is to designate one special packing box as the "set up box". I think I would experiment with the same stuff they make hexayurts from. It comes in one inch and thicker sheets - like really thick foam core. Re: Confused about Rangers and Police

From what I have read there are two types of law enforcement at BRC. There are the Rangers who, I've been told, can't arrest you for anything really and the real Police who can arrest you. If that is correct then I believe the following would be appropriate: If someone asks you for drugs then you a...

The happy medium is to volunteer by helping your neighbors put up their camps, do chores, etc as needed. I know that there have been times that no matter how well prepared, I was very grateful for assistance of my neighbors and passers-by. Do stop in and say hello to people as you pass their camps, ...
