Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day

My bad, I meant the Dolomite (http://www.walmart.com/ip/26-Mongoose-Men-s-Dolomite-Navy-Blue-Red/29741123) I don't think I need better breaks (or gearing?) for the Playa, but I couldn't find the Beast anywhere online... EDIT - found it for cheaper ($260) here: http://www.farmandfleet.com/products/82...

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day

Hey,

I'm considering buying a Mongoose Beast. I know nothing about bicycles. Where do I get the spare tubes? Are these standard? How does this whole ordeal work?
Would hate to have a $350 bicycle rendered useless because I didn't get the right spare parts I need...

Thankssssss

Bicycle...

Hello, and I hope this topic wasn't ground to death (I tried searching a bit but didn't reach a conclusive answer) :) So, last year I bought a $100 Walmart bike for the burn, and I guess it was fine. It survived the week and got me to places. I don't use bicycles in the default world, and basically ...

Re: cooling your tent or van

Bumpty bump! Are these 2 still the most recommended/FIGJAM-Approved/Playa-Tested pump & fan? We will be cooling a Penta/hexayurt. http://www.harborfreight.com/solar-powe ... yYSvVFdXU4 http://www.frozencpu.com/products/8556/ ... d=YnFfDVU7 Also, I see the pump is 7v. Assuming I don't want to be depe...

Re: HexaYurts

The plan is to use a FIGJAM cooler. Alright then - just a small hole with AC filter? Sounds doable :)
Bummer that the yurt will no longer be dark though...

Re: HexaYurts

Is there any need for a fan to force-pull air out or thats unnecessary/over-engineering/wasteful?

Re: HexaYurts

Not much luck with the Pentayurt yet. How popular are Pentayurts? I like the fact that they require less panels (as we only got 11), weight less and are taller so I'm assuming there would be better cold/hot air separation. Now, I was wondering - since we will likely be using a swamp cooler - do we n...

Aww yis :D Gonna order that right away. Then the pump and fan. Buckets obtained yesterday. Exciting! EDIT... Re: cooling your tent or van

Hello :) I am looking into building a Swamp Cooler myself now that me and a friend have decided to built a Yurt. After all, whats a yurt without a cooler? :P I looked at the guide on page 51 - is that the most suitable one for a Hexayurt? If so, I didn't notice any mentioning of spacing the durapad ...

And now on to some cardboard experimenting with a Pentayurt configuration that was recommended by a friend

After some more RTFMing, asking around and Googling I feel slightly more knowledgable. Even did this little experiment: http://i.imgur.com/bppuIvc.jpg Now, I found this thing: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Unbranded-Thermasheath-3-R-6-1-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-Polyiso-Rigid-Foam-Insulation-Board-787264/100549...

Re: HexaYurts

Hm. I see. Thanks for that piece of info :) Do you (or anyone else...) have any recommendation for the type of material that would fit the bill AND is available somewhere in SF/Bay area? These things seem to be quite rare :/ Edit - happy to hear that I can get away with 1". I'm planning on this one:...

Re: HexaYurts

Hey! So, I've been contemplating a Hexayurt for this year. Last year was my first burn with an RV. This year we have the same (1984 oldass) RV, so getting things to the playa is easy. Sleeping inside it - not so much. The thing gets too hot at ~10am. Its also full of sunlight, noisy and dusty. I'm k...
