Damn it was hot!

People in my camp were saying it was the hottest burn they can remember. I heard rumors that temps were over 100 but never saw any data I could trust. Seemed to me like a lot of folks were hiding under shade in the afternoons.

Re: Depressed and stressed. Should I go?

I get depressed but never hit that awful bottom. For me the answer would be go.
For you... If you have people there you love it could be fine.
If you'll stay isolated there - probably better not to go.

Hey Monkey,

Hopefully we stumble across each other in the dust! Well, the truck is stuffed full of all of the things. It's been another doozy of a prep, but now, finally it's time to settle back and enjoy the road trip. I'll be thinking of those of you who aren't able to make it out there this year, and I'm cer...

You guys are great!
I was right across the street from you in 2015, loved the bocce and your "catcalls" to passers by.
Hopefully you won't be too upset that I am also bringing bocce this year - come to 3:30 and B for dyeing, drinks and more.

Ya just roll with it and they'll love you. Make a point of showing up at the meet n greet - turns out they're pretty nice folks. Ya I feel kinda bullied. Thanks. Kinda wished I never asked. It is actually real good you asked and some fine folks gave you good answers. Get a good quality, large size a...

Re: Any tips for hauling a trailer you can share with a newbie?

Nice thought Elliot! do I cut south before Ogden on highway 89 or go all the way into Ogden to get on 15? On I-80 from the east approaching Salt Lake City... shortly after you enter Utah, take I-84 toward Ogden and then I-15 down to I-215 and then back on I-80. Only a couple miles longer -- MUCH saf...

This is the weekend to really fix up our trailer - a 1978 Great Range 17 footer. Took out everything moveable and attacking the dust and gunk - decades worth. Got the electric and gas sorted out. The fridge pilot lit and the freezer is cooling, not so much the main compartment. Gotta go pick up some...

Re: Lag screws vs everything else...

Another good tool for extracting stuff is a large vise grip. gives you a nice handle to pull and twist. Problem-- when we set up a test rib last weekend, at home in "regular dirt", one of the lag screws bent slightly. Could still get it out of the ground with the impact driver no problem, very sligh...

Re: MONKEY HUT "side walls" HELP please!!

Camo net is pretty flexible and you can attach to the mesh just about anywhere.
A double layer of camo cuts the sun better than just one.
It's nice because it lets more wind through than aluminet but still provides very useful shade.

Re: Slip Ring connectors for wheel lighting.

Here are 2 Nimh battery packs I made and the RGB LED strip. This is the rig I am going to put on my bicycle wheel. The smaller pack is 1200 mAH and runs the 15 foot strip for 3+ hours. I expect much better run time since I'm putting just over 1/3 that length on the wheel. I figure it should be easy ...
