Re: Lithium UPS - experience with use on playa?

Hi Swaybreeze, I'm trying to figure out the same issue. One thing you may have figured out is that the humidifier is the part of your CPAP that uses the most power. If you can forego using the humidifier it can make the difference between a battery system being able to support 8 hours sleep or not. ...

Re: Politics, Everyday, All day... morning, noon and night....II

I just lament the vitriolic rhetoric, from so many folks, towards anyone who disagrees. Yeah, there are wing nuts on both sides, who deserve focused derision, but can't we ratchet the conversation down, to maybe a civil discussion and respectful repartee? I know I've softened many of my views over ...

Re: Leaving No Trace in Regards to Carbon Emissions

This was addressed pretty well by the Captain... (italics mine) People are resistant to "greening" Burning Man because it fucks it up, plain and simple. What are you gonna do to green it? Ban burning stuff? That fucks it up. Ban generators? That fucks it up. Ban the big vehicles we drive? That fucks...

Never thought I would say it, but sometimes I long for the days of Reagan or Nixon.
At the time I hated them with a passion. Now they seem pretty tame.

Re: Risks Posed by an Underage Camp Member?

In 2014 and 2015 my 12/13 year old daughter came to BM. I was taking her every other day and her mom had her in kidsville. 2014 sucked because she just wanted to chase the boys at kidsville but 2015 was great. She came to my camp and immediately became well liked by quite a few campers. She loved ha...

Not at all. Plenty of people do without bikes.
An advantage is more interaction with the people / camps you walk past.

Re: Solar Charge Controller gets HOT

I would avoid running it if it's that hot - something could be wrong and the release of smoke is not far off.
Get someone who knows electronics to look at your setup and figure out the problem. Hate to see good hardware get torched.

Re: Flat roof tarp shelter, advice needed.

I use a 20 x 20 flat top shade structure on the playa. I use 1" EMT piping, with foot pads. For tarps, I use 1 10 x 20 and 2 10 x 10, lets wind pass through some. The 10 x 20 tarp I strap down so it won't blow up in the wind. All tarps are connected with bungee balls, and every corner is teathered ...
