Re: Any diabetic burners out there?

Another Type 1 here - I've been type 1 for most of my life (36 yrs of daily injections). Just wanted to say hi to all my fellow Type 1's out there. I don't find coping with my diabetes on playa too different from off playa management. I make sure to force myself to eat regularly and test regularly a...

Or at the very least a notice on your Ticketfly page saying "Status: Shipped".

Easy shelter for a small tent? http://www.softcom.net/users/rocksci/bm ... rp_designs

Use your car as a windbreak. Set up tent next to car. Make a lean-to with a tarp. Secure very well.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day

Nice big heavy duty silver tarp arrived today. Also made a trip to Harbor Freight and picked up some solar LED lights (for the bike and the tent), bungee cords, a super bright, tiny LED light that can hook onto things, and a set of assorted caribiners. Then I stopped by our discount grocery store (t...

Re: Will I still be able to go?

I've lost multiple toenails before (all at once - don't ask). If the nail falls off, it hurts for a while because the nail bed is tender, but it dries out and toughens up pretty fast. It still hurts to push directly onto the nail bed, but it isn't a constant raw feeling. I have a chronic disease tha...

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day

Made myself 2 shimmery tube tops. The fabric moops like crazy from the raw edges, but some good edging and hemming solved that problem. I'll post pics when I can.

Also set up my tent and shade to make sure it was all going to work properly.

Rain fly over tent, yes or no?

Did my dry run putting up my tent and shade today. I have a small dome tent, with sealed mesh windows at the top (sealed for a prior burn and work great). I'll have a tarp shade over it. Previously I've always put the rain fly over the tent, but looking at my set-up now I can't see the need. Am I ju...

Re: Shoelaces

I love wearing those cheap knock-off Uggs on playa. Warm, as comfortable as slippers, and easy on and off. After a few days with tons of walking/riding and messing with zippers or shoelaces there is nothing better than super comfy slip on shoes.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day

Placement and Early Entry confirmed. Woo hoo!

Yesterday I went a little crazy at the fabric store. The first project is in time out, I have to rethink my design as it just isn't working how I wanted it too. Next will be various shimmery skirts, tube tops and a mesh cloak thing.

Re: Getting into the US

You will need a ticket back to your home country at some point. It can leave from Canada but you must be able to show you will be leaving. Once you have that ticket, you should be OK. You can also ask your friends that you will be staying with to write a letter saying something to the effect of "He ...

Yet another shade structure question

Last time we went we took a full sized tipi as well as a small tent which was under a shared shade structure. This year I'm going solo and I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be able to manage the tipi alone (those wooden poles are HEAVY). The tipi was awesome, but I have to be realistic. So right now ...

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day

Heading to our regional tomorrow. Used today as a trial run for loading the car with all my stuff. I'll be bringing more stuff to BMan of course, but won't be dealing with the kid clothes/tent/beds/chairs and carseats. That will free up plenty of space to use for the extra requirements for BMan. I'l...

Made a couple of lacy layers using tights (one pair snake skin/fishnets, one pair black lace). Worked great.

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day

Local Burner Bazaar today. Wasn't sure if I should make the drive down there. Woke up this morning and felt like I must make the trip. Walked in and saw it immediately. Tried to make myself look at everything else first - I'm always disappointed because it is never the right size. Finally couldn't h...

Re: Playawear Work In Progress 2014

Finished my fuzzy, but still sheer enough, warm poncho. I always want something warm but still fun that will show off at least some of the costuming underneath it. Made the pattern up myself. (You can see the wall through the neck which would be how it looks over clothing or over naked flesh). http:...

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day

Well apparently it has been a day to get shit done. Booked unaccompanied tickets for my kids to go visit grandma while mama goes to play in the desert. Booked my hotel rooms in Wendover for there and back (and yay for a great price on a suite post-burn which includes a private jacuzzi).

Re: One item for BMan 2014 a day

Our regional is in early June so right now my focus is on that. Of course much of what I do there is just a trial run for later this year ;) Today I adjusted the bust area of a corset, but it still isn't quite right. I'll have to confer with my other craft-minded burner friends to figure out the fin...
