Agreed that bonfire casting's more advanced, in some ways...The sand mix doesn't have to be perfect, though- Just enough oil to make it stick together and take a shape. But you DO need a real barn-burner of a fire! It's nothing to make jewelry from, but my day job involves the making of radiation s...

Re: Metalwork craftsperson???

I just spent about five minutes watching the cat sneak up on your avatar spot, over and over. If you can burn outside where you are, try doing a quick-and-sloppy aluminum melt too....Just need an old cast-iron container, some sand and used motor oil. LMAO.. I don't remeber where I found that, but I...

I'm a big fan of cold cathode tube lighting. More light per amp than even LEDs and pretty cheap too. Louise and I use CCTs on our bikes from http://shop.store.yahoo.com/glowingstuff/coldcathodes.html They're having a sale today on 16.5 inch long, 2.6mm diameter CCTs, white only, $2 each, $18 per te...

I'm a big fan of cold cathode tube lighting. More light per amp than even LEDs and pretty cheap too. I use them to light the inside of my dome (you could see the light coming out the skylight) and to light my pavillion at Ren Faires. And they're already all set for 12v. Perfect. :D

Should I just use my own paypal account for anyone who wants to make a donation? Wasn't a choice. Got tagged with the name 10 years ago. I'm not one of those idiots who give themselves nicknames to feel special.

Badger is my name. I don't need another one. Deal with it or don't. I really don't care.

Alright allanon2... enough. You have made your pitch and now you're just being an prick. Those that care have gone to your site. Those that don't, don't care what you have to say. Badger has already given his answer to your question. Be an adult and leave him be. The more you act like a pesky child,...

If it says cold cranking amps, it's not a deep cycle battery. Its either a car or marine battery. 6v golf cart batteries are deep cycle.

Yahoo! The dome is done and up! 2v 8.5' Took me 2 hrs 20 minutes to set it up for the first time, and that was with a major screw up. After finishing the first layer, I looked at my remaining struts and went "hey, shouldn't there be more of those short poles left?" Turns out I had put the wrong pole...

Re: Go for Nimh's!

I once heard that they don't keep their charge (just idle) for more than a few days or a week. So I thought not to charge them until just before going. Any rechargeable battery will self drain over time, no matter what type. Charge them up before you leave for the playa. Unless they are really old,...

Hello, can i get just those inverters and make my own lights? Not that I'm aware of. I'm not sure what the actual output of those little inverters are, but if I had to guess, I'd bet they won't run a normal 120v 60Hz light. :) I'm pretty sure they are "tuned" specificly for the cold cathodes. Probl...

So i need an inverter for the 120v circuit, can I just split the outfeed and have a 12v connection and the other end go to the inverter? A hell, I just need to buy a good Alternative energy book... any suggestions? Correct. :) Yeah, you can run a wire to you're 12v stuff right from your battery ban...

Yes I want to keep my voltage (12v) and have multiple batteries give me more Amp Hours. So I'd go parallel ( + to +, - to -). I could then take the leads of the last battery to my load, again + to + - to -. Am I correct that if i'm using 120v stuff, like lights and what not, with a 12v battery then...
