Re: Pointer to test of pull-out strength of various methods of securing guy lines

I've tried googling for it in the past and it is hard to find. I had it in my bookmarks after someone found it for me last year.

One would think this would find it as you suggested. site:eplaya.burningman.org "lag screw pull test"

But it does not. So I payed it forward this time. :coffee:

Re: cooling your tent or van

@ legionvr6........ I have my top ring right between the 2 layers of blue pad so the very top of the pad stays mostly dry. that may be why I get no water in the fans. That will take care of it too. Move the media away from the bucket wall for better air flow & i guess you GTG! :) @Leap..... Just try...

Re: cooling your tent or van

If you're going to run two fans you should go with a different container, like a storage bin. ;) And they should be the same size, (CFM) as the one spinning faster will do most of the work and the smaller not running to design. You can't just add the CFMs of two different sized fans together when us...

Re: cooling your tent or van

This link might be what you need . While Aspen pads are one of the better medias to use for residential evap cooling normally, (Besides Cell deck & Bonded Paper Pads ) I strongly suggest not using them for a bucket cooler. They might be fine all week IF you build a solid cage to hold it. Tube or no...

Maybe wax the pieces before sliding together, then penetrating oil if needed at removal.

This is true. I space 1-1.5" between the bucket wall and the media. Just need another ring at the top to keep air from bypassing the media.

Re: 20 person A/C Tent Help Needed!

I wonder how many Box Coolers (large Figjam) it would take to cool the tent?

Its all a matter square footage & cfm. But when you get to that size just grab a used home swampy, (proper size) and duct it in. No need to build one that big.

Another option, if you know an electrician. The tape they use for high voltage mechanical connections. Its a stretchy, stick to itself, rubber tape.

A couple wraps, done. It's not cheap so its better if your electrician buddy can let you borrow his roll..... ;)

Re: Belt Bikes

Given the dust being basically silt, I suspect there would be some slippage at take off. Along with build up over time as you would never have enough torque to really get the belt to bite and clean the surfaces thoroughly. Assuming you mean V-belt. Now a cogged belt might be the answer. Like a timin...
