Re: Playa Hair: Tips, tricks, and general accouterments

You're welcome, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Whoa, this looks like a potential game-changer. For $17 I'm going to try them this year! Thanks! My hair is the super-fine/tons of it type. Purchased some no-rinse Astronaut shampoo bonnets...my theory is that if I do this once every morning bef...

Re: "Not a festival per se,"

I love each and every word of this... There's definitely enough physical space for everything that people what to do at Burning Man. I question if there's enough space for all of the "energy" allowed within Black Rock City. Specifically, the larger and louder aspects of the culture. Mid-week last ye...

Re: Playa Hair: Tips, tricks, and general accouterments

No water, just bonnet, and go! Since I don't have limitless means to set up a full-shower/haul out grey water, needed to problem solve. This seems like an extremely doable solution. Same with the body wash--they use it in hospitals as well. I think the smell is quite neutral, and it is great on my ...

Re: Playa Hair: Tips, tricks, and general accouterments

My hair is the super-fine/tons of it type. Purchased some no-rinse Astronaut shampoo bonnets...my theory is that if I do this once every morning before going to sleep, with a tight braid and a turban when I'm out and about, all will be well, and matting will be avoided. I may be fancy and bring clot...

Re: "Not a festival per se,"

I did notice the rampant concpiracy theory-esque feel after clicking into two different rabbit holes of articles on burners.me, and retreated fairly quickly. I'm not looking for that type of energy.

Re: "Not a festival per se,"

Thanks for sharing this...I did read the article that this referenced last week, and choked a bit on my coffee at the ' a teenager running away to join the circus or a monk on a pilgrimage in a foreign land." I do believe that BORG has brought this on themselves...and in the very same way, it can be...

Re: "Not a festival per se,"

Media Mecca is definitely a place where I'd feel at home (read: work), but I shied away from the volunteerism option on the form because of 2017 being the first burn, i.e., I didn't think I'd have a place being new...but lawd PR needs some help . Reactive is the worst way possible to go about any pu...

"Not a festival per se,"

Hey BurningFam, ...just something I read that burns my biscuits today. At work, the well-meaning Chief of Staff slipped this on my desk, because it is the "cool hipster magazine and we should be in it!"* -- but all I could see was BM listed on the cover as a festival , used as the primary festival t...

Re: Dumbfounded—

Thanks @RustyGrape... Day by day, it's coming together...I'm just carefully working my towards it. One of my closest friends contacted me and asked what the ticket cost/etc., and when I told her about the LIT application approval, she sent me the entire cost of the ticket with a note that said, "You...

Re: Dumbfounded—

That Hesse quote is exceptionally beautiful. Thank you for sharing—I'm going to put it up where I can see it readily everyday. By the way, the art is AWESOME!!!!!! I am pretty sure that it will be a success. The design reminded me of a Herman Hesse quote that I love dearly: “Natures of your kind, wi...

Re: Okay...Where my Deaf/HH Burners at?

Awesome, thanks Lucky...connected with Da Dirty Hands on Facebook and am going to feel that out. Fingers crossed! Last year 2 friends of friends (married couple) both deaf, made it out to the playa. The husband volunteers with the Reno Core project. I'll see if they're going again this year, etc . I...

Okay...Where my Deaf/HH Burners at?

Hi. (Note: I've been poking around for ages, but haven't found anything conclusive regarding DHH camps/villages. If there is one preexsisting, please point me in the right direction—specifically looking for Da Dirty Hands if anyone has a contact). 15% of the population is Deaf and/or Hard of Hearing...

Re: Dumbfounded—

Absolutely can see where the LI program could be taken advantage of...in my own case when applying, I made specific notes and cross-references that should I not be a candidate for the program this year, than I would just save for another year and purchase at full rack-rate in 2018 (if able to secure...

Re: Hey there. (San Diego)

Thank you Savannah! There's also a fairly active group in San Diego. Check out the regional newsletter for their weekly bar meetup. If anybody in the area is doing big art, that's a great way to hear about it and get involved. I second this fabulous idea! I'm glad you're feeling well enough to Burn ...

Re: Dumbfounded—

Thanks Maladroit—great idea... I actually do craft/make (stress-crafting), and had been working on solidly built/well-made MOOP-proof Celestial themed items for gifting...perhaps I could sell a few of them to make it work out (picture attached of the first two gifting pieces). There's still plenty o...

Re: Hey there. (San Diego)

Ratty, thanks for the kind words—I've been quiet in my responses because of a 1-2 punch in the stomach via housing expenses...I was certain I wouldn't make it to BRC this year. The today, I was greeted with the message of being awarded a LI ticket. It's still going to be a massive stretch, but somet...

Dumbfounded—

Received the email today that I've been awarded a low-income ticket, and am absolutely shocked. I've been quiet—life has thrown quite a curveball at me with an uprooting from my home (due to a 50% rent increase), and I held unto some small hope that I'd be rejected from the LITA pool, so that not go...

Hey there. (San Diego)

Hope you're well—I'm Kayla, and new to the tribe. I've been on the outside looking in for six years, supporting friends/acquaintances who participate; neurological medical concerns barred me from even considering it in-person. After a lot of work, I'm finally healthy enough to adventure out—be it th...
