Yikes, it looks like the price has jumped up a bit on the 1" EMT. Maybe you could check out the flea markets in your area, they use the same stuff for their shade structures. You might find some cheaper stuff or even some used EMT there. It don't have to be pretty, it's just has to work.

The conduit structures are infinitely customizable, that's why they are really quite good. If you did a 10 x 30 foot structure you could fit 2 tents and a courtyard between them as a patio, and be pretty good for simple/cheap. Just modify the plans to add 10 extra feet and a longer tarp.

We do 10 feet tall on our Bar shade but..... We start with it raised on 7 foot legs so that installing the power ... I use custom made shade cloth and have pieces made to fit my individual shade structures. Full size with no gaps.

Not two poles, but when I was taking BE I used a shade structure made of 3/4 EMT and 70% shade cloth. I'd put the supports together ... stuff like this amd making it work. Kelty has some interesting shade structures too.

I will be taking the Burner Express so that is why 2 poles. I plan on placing the poles diagonal with 2 ties for each pole and then tie down each of the other corners. Solo shade structures

I will be putting up a 2 pole shade structure. Is a medium to heavy duty tarp better or shade cloth for this type of shade structure? Tarp provides better shade but may not do well in high wind whereas shade cloth lets some wind and sun through.
