Re: Help with DIY cold wear

My favorite night time cold wear is lounge / pajama pants made from fleece. if it gets really cold I wear long johns under them. the missus tends to get cold easily. We've been wrapped up in two layers of long johns and she was still cold. Wondering if fleece would be warm enough? Any suggestions f...

I love this thread.

And BTW one of your tails made it to Vulture Chow and Graidawgs wedding via MDF's son.

I meant to bring mine and didn't remember it till I got there. Was still attached to my work clothes.

Re: Help with DIY cold wear

My favorite night time cold wear is lounge / pajama pants made from fleece. Fleece is available in a huge variety of solids as well as prints and is relatively inexpensive. Patterns are readily available for PJs and are simple to make since there are only 4 pieces. if it gets really cold I wear long...

Re: Box truck shade structure ideas

I don't cover mine and generally don't find the heat to be an issue as long as the door is open during the day allowing the heated air to escape. Since the ruck is substantially taller than me and the hot air rises I find it rarely gets unbearably warm with the door open, but your mileage may vary.

Re: Costco carport or pop up?

It's all fun and games until your careless neighbor's ez-up comes loose and uses it's legs to etch it's name on your newish BMW's doors and hood, or on your head, or your campmate's windshield. That shit can get real hairy real fast... So much this - But it could occur with any shade that is not su...

Re: overwhelming and exciting and ........ Please help

Welcome to Eplaya. That being said I suggest you follow the suggestion to read the survival guide then start finding the answers to many of your questions on Eplaya. Google search is better than the built in search function here btw. Also mentioned above but it bears repeating - theme camps are not ...

Re: Costco carport or pop up?

I agree - Carport all the way.

The Playa is where EZ ups go to die.

RV awnings are also easily destroyed by far less wind than you are likely to encounter on the playa and are very expensive to repair.

Re: Anyone make their own moccasins

All of the above is great advice. I have made my own mocs several times, but unless you put a heavy sole on them they would be killer on your feet on the playa. I've had many shoe disasters on the playa including a brand new pair of hiking shoes that the soles delaminated after 4 hours on the playa....

Re: Really, how many costume changes do you make in a day?

I brought a ton of stuff to wear to my first burn. Ended up just a fraction of it. Now I bring 2 kilts and one warm pair of pants for cold use. All in cotton - I find synthetic fibers really uncomfortable on the playa. Add to this enough clean skivvies and socks for the week plus one set of long joh...

Re: Difference between BM and regionals....

I like regionals. Not nearly as much as I like the big burn, but they are fun nonetheless. One thing I have found is that regionals became way more fun once I started a theme camp. Ours is very popular at regionals so we are bringing it to the big burn this year. I guess it also helps that the core ...

Re: Eplaya Meet & Greet 2016

I wouldn't miss it. Will there be a sign-up board for food, drink, mayhem? I didn't bother with a sign up board this year since few people bothered using it. Anyone who wants to let us know what they are bringing or volunteering for can simply post in this thread. Since we are Burners, it doesn't r...

Re: Rest In Peace

Half my life has been spent as a professional writer, yet at times like these I always find myself at a loss for words and often say nothing. Yet for Bob I must dig deep and give it my best try. I would like to treat you to a related story. At my first Eplaya Meet & Greet, I filled out my name tag a...
