You might want to arrive on Monday the 27th of August (I think the gates open at 12:00am Monday morning) and Plan on leaving Monday or Tuesday, september 3rd or 4th (the man burns Sat. night and the temple burns on sunday night). Give yourself lots of time, maybe 8 hours to get from Gerlach to Reno from Sunday sept 2 to through Tuesday Sept 4.

A lot of people do leave after the man burns but on Monday the line is very long very long very long.

On your way in it doesn't matter, but when you are going home and you have a flight to catch and there is an accident on the hwy.....well to make long flights short... good luck.

I've talked to folks who flew in who'd leave on Sunday and spend the night in Reno to be sure they got their Monay flight.

Thank you for the advice. We are actually flying into Salt Lake City and driving to Gerlach. The cost of renting an RV in Salt lake was 1/3 the price of renting one in Reno. I am talking a $4000 difference!..... making the 8 hour drive well worth it. Moreover, we will get to do some sight seeing.

Perhaps we'll honk and wave at ya on I-80 then, we live north of SLC in Ogden. Of course, we make the trip later in the day so as to run the desert at night, but hey, we've seen it. A lot. The salt flats right before Wendover are fascinating if you've never seen anything like them.

Yeah, it is the largest RV we could find. Last year we rented a smaller one with a 55 gallon fresh water tank. My freind Heather used up all of the water the first day washing her hair! (We didn't really understand the whole selfreliance thing until two days in, we were very green). However this year's number one criterea for the RV was the size of the water tank. And you are right it is very expensive, but we had such a good time and now we live for this years burn!!!!!

Sounds like your friend Heather should re-name herself "Rapunzel."

55 gallons to wash one persons hair? I would never camp with that person again...

I don't care what the borg says: feather-wearers will NOT be served in Rosie's Bar.
When I ask how many burns, I mean at BRC.

I'd tie her to the back of the water truck when she said she needed to wash her hair.
