Hello all,
I am looking for a point in the right direction.
Does anyone know of a flatbed rental company in the bay area that is burning man friendly.
If am need a quick quote to finish off my proposal.
Or if anyone has used one before approx. how much it cost.
Thanks and Cheers.

You might try United Rentals. www.unitedrentals.com. They are primarly a nationwide equipment rental company. The one in Carson City has, I'm guessing, 15ft maybe 18ft stake bed/flat rack trucks. I would'nt know if they're burner friendly but from what I've read on the BM website, BM uses generators from United. It's a place to start
Penske will rent very large trucks (up to 26K with hydraulic brakes) so anyone with a normal drivers license can pick one up.
That would be pushing it. A driver of a truck with a GVWR of 26,001 pounds or more must have at least a class B CDL regardless of the brakes. Then a driver would also need a log book. Regardless of what size truck, one would be requiered to enter DOT truck inspection scales, if they're open, so it would be best to stay away from larger trucks, unless you have a CDL and are familiar with the FMCSR. (Federal Motor Carrier Saftey Regulations) The rental company should advise you of all that. If they don't, ask. If a CDL is requiered and you don't have one, they won't rent you the truck. If you do go with a larger truck the CHP scales on I80, east and west bound in Suisun City and west bound at Truckee can be real pricks. Especially in Truckee. They require U-haul trucks to enter them. This is not meant to discourage anyone but it's something to think about, especially first timers or someone who has never driven a truck

We have rented such trucks from Budget and if you look in the JRS Resources issue, it will give the name of a local Budget dealer who is offering a 20% discount to Burners in the Bay Area. All you must do is tell him you are going to BM and bring it back clean.
Those who think they can and those who think they can't are both right.
