Black Rock Citizen Bus Project
I just bought a school bus. Its a 30 international diesel, and I need help.
My idea is to have all the citizens of black rock city give their input and help to put a little bit of themselves into this bus.
I dont want it to be just my bus i want it to be our bus.
So heres the plan. EVRY SINGLE ONE OF THE SUGGESTIONS THAT ARE GIVEN HERE WILL BE INCLUDED INTO THE DESIGN OF THE BUS!!!!!!!
(provided the are not unsafe too offensive of cost prohibitive)
So start the ideas coming. I am very interested in ideas that get other people involved.
Thanks for the help, Moon Puppy

Are you talking about turning it into a mutant vehicle to operate during the event, or just your way to get there?
If MV, make it look like something other than a bus with lights and dance floors.

Well, I've been wanting to buy a bus of my own, just haven't had the resources yet.
Anyway, the biodiesel idea is a good one, and I would go one step further. Install some extra large fuel tanks, and covert the bus to run on waste veggie oil. The large fuel tank would be for the WVO, for regular driving, the original tank would have the biodiesel in it, for starting and stopping the bus. (The biodiesel cleans out the fuel lines, fuel pump, nozzles, et al, so the WVO doesn't set up and clog stuff.) If the WVO tanks are large enough, you might be able to get out to the desert and back without refueling, saving money and being kinder to the environment!
Now, if you will install and incinerating toilet ran by solar and/or wind power, and it works, let me know how you did it!
(I'd like to do that, just so I wouldn't have to mess with blackwater, but haven't worked it out yet. Figure I should worry about getting the bus first.)
Keep us updated and good luck!

If you go with alternative fuel it is not too expensive if you hit the junkyards. Basically you just run on diesel to warm up the vegoil. Vegoil runs in a copper line inside your extended coolant hose for preheating. If you go with waste oil recycling of fryer oils than you need some filters.. measured in microns.. if memory serves a 50 a 20 and a 10 micron filter. They are kinda like big oil filters but like a motorcycle filter where you keep the housing and change out the filter inside. Don't quote me on the micron values I may be off a bit I don't have my plans on this machine. Another method which I plan on using is to have a submersible preheater in your oil tank.. this will avoid the mess of having to run a line in your coolant hose. As far as the artistic aspects go.. it would be neat to have it just like a public trans but more comfy as opposed to party barge. Have the sides with white panels that are removable. Allow participants to "decorate" panels than at the end of the event the particiapnt created art can be removed and gifted to the community. Next year new panels for a new canvas!

sweet and comfy
You should make it super comfy inside. Take out a some of the seats, and put in fluffy feather bed, or just a soft matress with hella blankets and pillows and other soft stuff. And candy, lots and lots of candy. That would be sweet. I also totally agree with the slide idea.

MoonPuppy -- If you remember the problems from Santa's Rampage 2006 -- make sure the trapdoor is large enough for ME -- and easier to climb than the ladder I fell off of that night...LOL.

Harvey vs. Jesus
Jesus died for all of mankind's sins. Harvey ain't dead yet. It ain't clear which one had any blood to spare.
Re: Harvey vs. Jesus
And here I thought Jesus did it for the chicks. What the hell do I know... I'm just a silly pagan.chiefdanfox wrote:Jesus died for all of mankind's sins. Harvey ain't dead yet. It ain't clear which one had any blood to spare.

I thought it was Godzilla who dies for our sins...?
Anyway, I don't know this whole "Original Sin" thing is about-- my ancestors weren't allowed in the Garden of Eden in the first place... (darned Studio 54-like door policy!
