cricket on the playa

Post by manners » Wed Jul 25, 2007 6:56 am

Hello

I'm coming over from the UK with a friend. We thought it would be pretty cool to play a game of cricket on the playa. Not a long one obviously, but definitely with full kit, umpires and definitely definitely with English tea and scones afterwards.

anyone interested, drop me a line.

see you in Nevada!

Love

I'm always up for a game of cricket. I'll warn you though, I'm crap at it!

I saw what looked to be a praying mantis last year. Im sure you'll find crickets on the playa if you look hard enough

I've never played before but always wanted to learn how. Drop me a line if a newbie is welcome. And I do have a kilt or two I could wear...

Totally no problem if you haven't played before. we can have a crash course.

I just think a game of cricket on the playa will be pretty surreal.

I think we can have a game if 18 people say they'll go for it. 5 yeses at the moment.

for it to be surreal, everyone has to wear cricket whites and jumpers

wow! I wish I'd seen this post a month ago.
manners, did you manage to get a game together??

My friends and I wanted to organise a game too. I spent 3 hours one morning explaining some of the rules of cricket to a fellow burner... during which time we realised that the word "wicket" is a tad over-used (there are at least 3 distinct meanings I can think of!)

I would love to do this next year in all its surreal silliness - whites, umpires, tea-breaks and of course, streakers!
