More astronomical treats for us! Looks like this is a special fall, a rare occurance of this meteor shower.

It's always an amazing night sky on the playa, but this year's holds wonders for us!

I was walking with some people from 7:30 to 8:30 at around 11pm on Aug 30th and we looked up towards a black sky and saw what I think was this. Every 3-5 seconds, we saw what looked like firey kites melting and streaking. We couldn't believe our eyes. The only description we could come up with was "some airplanes must be up there throwing fire crackers." The sheer volume many anything else seem impossible. Was this what we saw -- or was it too early?
