oh yes...drawstrings most excellant idea!

Were still shopping around for the coverings, trying to find that much coverage for reasonable amount of mulah is difficult, plus trying to factor in the skin coloring on breasts... I have some wonderful Hot pink vinyl for the aiola and nipples...that much has been decided...unless of course I run into something I like better...hehehehe in the meantime!

This is rather interesting....

When my brother and I were kicking around ideas for our first time encampment, the idea of 2 massive domes being erected to look like breasts and somehow figuring out a tie in way to raise money for breast cancer research.

We abandoned the plan when we realized, that despite our good intentions, we would still be seen as two yahoos just trying to stare at boobies all day. Which of course, never crossed our dirty little minds...

My initial idea for the fleshy part of the dome was to use undyed canvas after coming across 10 to 15 yard bolts of 54" canavas up for sale at a decent price on Ebay.

Were not going to do the raise money for, Thing. Want to keep as much of the "having fun on the playa" for even though suffering with the dreaded disease.
Kinda like I just dont want to look at another brochure, I just want to be alive!

So the idea, is to really glorify LIFE with breast cancer...not dying from...Yes there will be books etc... hanging around, but if I indeed had had it, going to the playa, finding the B(O)(O)By bar and going inside, realizing its just a place to feel normal again. I would be very appreciative.

funny I wasnt drinking..I had fallen asleep on the couch at 730 so when Burnerbaby woke me up to tell me to go to bed...I was awake...
Came in to turn off pc and saw the PM's and thats where it ALL started!

Alright... the start of virtual construction!

2 domes
25ft wide x 80ft around x 12.9 ft tall

The two flesh toned coverings with aiola and nipples in hot pick!
One nipple being pierced!

A bar
1 apprx. 16 ft bar
bar top 2 2ft x 8ft plywood apprx. 45 degree angle
base 2x4 framing. cloth front.

set up and storage behind bar consisting of shelving? tables?

barstools...

Ok camp mates....this is basic set up/construction. hopefully with all of us focused on first day we can be done with it relatively early!

Hot air balloons are required to get their envelopes tested. When these tests fail, the envelope is cut in half to prevent it from ever flying again, and thus the envelope becomes trash. If you need a good covering for your dome, this would provide a huge amount of cloth. If you can find one of the inspectors and explain your need, you could probably recover an expired envelope for no cost.

I have gone through the dome calculations and have created a spreadsheet that maximizes the size of the dome (minimizes scrap) depending on the material you are using and the frequency of the dome. The most common construction material for the playa is EMT conduit which normally comes in 10 foot lengths. If this is your plan, your dome size does not appear to get the maximum size for the material. If it would be helpful, I can supply numbers for maximum efficiency if you would supply info about your requirements such as dome frequency and raw material length.

They have several ballons here in town for the Reno Ballon Race. I should be able to find someone who knows someone...

Yes, EMT waste is a given for us, unless I can find it in 8', 12' or 20' lengths (I haven't really looked around too much). To get the least waste out of 10 footers makes the dome too small or too large.

There is a certfied balloon repair in the greater Battle Creek Mi. area.. I'll ask my kid where one is in the Portland Or..Or how to find them..They must be on line, Ballooning is world wide.

10 foot conduit can provide the following with very little waste:

Freq Radius
6V 11.75'
6V 15.71'
5V 9.67'
5V 13.11'
4V 10.25'
4V 15.72'
3V 11.94'

To minimize waste, you must mix short and long struts when cutting your raw material. For any of the above domes, I can give you the mix combination to provide as small amount of waste as possible with a few spares in the event one gets damaged.
