black rock city as code
an interactive map of burning man with the theme camps placed.
http://pancakeplayhouse.org/brc07ascode
this map is generated from source code. nothing on this map is hand-placed, rather a program generates an approximation of the city and places the camps.
i created this as fast as possible in about 2 days to make it useful for people before they got to the playa. all the source code is available for download... please feel free to help me make it better.
this is a rough work, in progress. i have some things to work out:
known problems
* i haven't figured out how to rotate the map so that center camp is on the bottom, the temple is on the top, and 9 o'clock is on the left.
* the plaza maps have a little criss-cross in them at 12.5 and 1.0
* some camp names can overlap
* i haven't put village details in yet
* there is too much information to put in one image or pdf. hence the interactive viewer
* i had to put the plazas and center camp details separate from the main map. they are currently placed at random
* i will be updating this site daily with your suggestions until i leave for the playa.
* don't forget to come by for pancakes. we're in plaza 9.

Try upgrading your java.... there is a link in the "viewer help" section. otherwise if there are no visible errors, it can take quite a long to load on a slow machine/internet connection. and my server is starting to get hit hard w/ traffic.
if you have an error message, post it here so i can help.

Technology is a worthy contribution
Thanks for your efforts! Works great in OSX/Safari.
