How far are you from BlackRock City?

Hi Burners,

Last year we traveled around 3700 Miles return trip from Canada and I spent a little more than $500 total on fuel. (I have a 2005 Civic) This year I figure it will cost about $10 more per tank, so I guess it will be around $600 for the trip.

I am both amazed and great-full that you folks go to the expense and effort to make our city what it is!!!

I have to laugh at the people who whine over a 8 hour drive to the burn! It takes us over four hours just to get to the US border into Montana... (about 24hrs one way)

I wonder how many burners drive more than 20 hours one way to get to the burn??

Anyhow, this is one Sakatoon Burner who knows it is worth the effort!

Love

Roughly 2350 miles. According to google maps that's about 33 hours
driving time. Totally worth it.

It's a 12 hour drive for us. So even though it's kind of a pain, at least we can do it in a straight shot.

6 1/2 hours to Gerlach, then about 8 hours to the playa, or so it seems. For awhile, it appears to move farther away or static, like I'm stuck in a fixed orbit, outside of the event horizon.

2200 miles in theory, longer really, even if I don't go via LA or San Francisco.

That desert perspective is really disconcerting the first time, isn't it?

Sheesh... other than chugging up Donner pass, I've got it pretty easy. 335 miles.

I've always believed the Donner party's problem was due to lack of condiments.

I don't even have a regional within 335 miles.

I'm in Seattle, 7 or 8 hundred miles away, but I need about 300 gallons of gas round-trip, including generators during B-Man. It takes a big truck and big trailer to get all the stuff, including the 25-foot Land Yacht, to BRC.

What amazes me is that anyone can get adequate gear into a Civic! Hell, that wouldn't even carry my booze!

wow - i feel bad, its 600 miles give or take to Bm for me. We nring a tractor trailer and 30 people in it so its actually pretty efficient. It has an ac unit on the trailer, is illegal, and is a blast. Porta potties are inside, along with couches from goodwill, and all of our gear in the smaller B set trailer.

we're in vancouver, bc. it's about 1300km from my place to the playa, not including the driving around in towns along the way. we could do it in about 18 hours, but we take 2 1/2 days of camping and driving to make it more sane. that also gives us time to stock up on cheap american booze and other treats we can't get here. this will be my car's 7th trip to the playa. i think it can get there on its own now.
see you on the playa!

Oh jeezuz, here we go again...

Attention all Canadians !!!

Most american vehicles no longer have the metric speed in the speedomters of our vehicle,
thus we have no reason to learn what a kilometer is.

If you are going to use our time system and and tell us how many hours it takes,
please convert your monkey math into miles so that we know how far that is.

.......................Thank You
