Gun concern at the burn

When I think of the theme American dream meets artsy burners, drugged out party people, and fanatical desert beings, I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of military themed costumes, camo up the yin yang and unfortunately a shit load of fake guns. This has me deeply concerned that with all the fake artillery, (tank style art car anyone?) that some real crazies could easily be swinging the real thing around in plain sight. I have seen nothing regarding this topic covered by the website. I think there should be some kind of format in place for what is acceptable (yes a rule I know what you are thinking, I know) just like how all toy guns have to be painted orange on the tip or something. I dont know but its got me real concerned. Am I just paranoid?

Honestly I would be more concerned about some moron using the wrong type of hoses for his flame cannon.
That and I don't have any orange paint for all of my prop guns, cannons and bombs...

Nope no fake guns at BM... Usually only real guns DAMN! I miss the drive-by shooting range!
And for those of you that don't remember back that far...YES there actually was a drive by shooting range complete with purple smiling dinosaur

It isn't uncommon to see real weapons used for costume with the firing pin out or otherwise disabled.
Never seen it on the playa.
I wouldn't worry.
A gun isn't hazardous until someone points it at you and shoots.

I was there when those guys checked in at the dmv.
I'm still amazed they could get in there.
They could do maneuvers since there were two.
Very surreal to see.
I have been trying to figure out how to bring a full size tank decoy since before I got to the desert.
Just to park way off in the distance with the antennae swaying and maybe a smoke generator to complete things.

Guns went out of style after the famous machine gun shooting gallery of '96. I'd like to see more primative atlatl acton like a mock mastadon hunting range.

I always bring weapons to the playa. I've converted to legal ones after all the noise about regular guns, but you never know what you'll be up against. I've been tazered by drunk assholes out there (immediately followed by one broken tazer!) and had people try to steal the Land Yacht (immediately followed by one bloody thief) and all sorts of shit.
BM is no Utopia, there's plenty of assholes.

I would say you're being very paranoid...or maybe you're tossing out an idea / hypothetical scenario that LE (Law Enforcement) is thinking of as a way to impose more draconian rules on the event. After all art, self-expression, general rights and freedoms can easily be trumped by the claim of promoting public safety....look at what happened at this year's Rainbow Gathering if you want an example of out of control LE and how rights can be squashed in mere minutes.

It is already illegal to shoot someone without justification, even in nevada.
Problem solved.
Better to worry about morons firing guns on new years eve in the city.
Many of us already have to take our more interesting hobbies other places than the burn.
Predictable result of rules.
No control whatsoever where we move things.

Sounds like you've already conjured up a scenario that's guaranteed to provide you a negative experience before you even step foot on the playa. I mean, Jeezus dude. You need to chill the hell out and spin down that over active imagination of yours.
